This one is better. Having Negate and Dispel in the main deck are just dead cards (you only need them for specific matchups).
Another argument for Shambling Vent: it has lifelink. When you cast an awaken spell, say Planar Outburst with awaken, you can attach those awaken counters onto Shambling Vent. You then would potentially have a 6/7 haste lifelink creature and the opponent would have no creatures. You attack for 6 and gain six life. After your turn, Shambling Vent is no longer animated (i.e. a creature) but the counters stay on it for the next time you activate/animate it. Sounds pretty damn good to me. Do you understand how powerful this is? Opponents can only kill the vents with an instant and only after you have activated it, and you have a bunch of countermagic to prevent that.
