WAR Update —May 14, 2019

My playgroup plays with a $100 deck price limit (based off MTGGoldfish prices, updated at every new set release or deck edit) and boy was I unhappy when I looked back at this deck on there and saw that it had gone over $120 since RNA. Most of this price increase was due to the steadily increasing price of a few staples like Lightning Greaves, so we had to drop some of our more expensive (ie Balefire Dragon) and less bang-for-buck cards. We managed to keep around a lot more cards than expected (I especially didn't expect to be able to find room for Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni given her pricetag), but will have to wait till C19 to hopefully drop the price of our Rings and Greaves until we can look to add back a few of the cards that we had to drop. For WAR additions, Vivien, Champion of the Wilds is a slam-dunk addition at only $3, with her static ability allowing us to flash in blockers on opponents turns, and her +1 providing vigilance to help keep some of our big bois back blocking.

Warmonger Hellkite is great because he can pump ANY attacking creatures. Even your opponent's creatures. Great combat trick if you want to help other players kill each other. Crown of Doom does likewise.

I didn't notice that little trick to Warmonger Hellkite at all! I thought he was just an overcosted Moonveil Dragon , huge thank you for that catch! I'm not sure where to fit him in, but he's definitely in there next revision. Crown of Doom I had in this list, but I felt it was a little pricey for the effect when trying to stay under my budget. Thanks for the suggestions!

You have a lot of cards at 5 CMC. Demon of Wailing Agonies seems like the most vanilla of all of them, so I’d suggest him to be replaced.

I fully agree. I've actually cut and re-added the demon several times because of how cheap he is.
