ONE Update —March 30, 2023

My playgroup re-sets our decks to the $100 price limit at every new Standard legal set release, so on top of new cards, it usually means saying goodbye to some old ones with inflating cost. We lost a few old friends to the financial reaper this update, but we've also gotten a lot of new toys to play with!

My focus with the recent changes were to increase card draw and creature protection, while decreasing CMC. Both goals were accomplished, bringing in new cheap creatures like Grim Flayer and Atalan Jackal to replace some of the older top-end cards, and a significant number of new protection and draw effects like Tamiyo's Safekeeping, Snake Umbra and Harmonize. These changes should help make the deck significantly more consistent, helping us find our best creatures consistently and keep them on the field longer.

hey man, first nice deck really like it.

maybe some of these cards: Weathered Sentinels, Family's Favor, Death Tyrant, Relic Robber, Shakedown Heavy

YourNeighborhoodGhost THANK YOU! I can't believe I didn't add a few of these SNC cards, especially Weathered Sentinels and Family's Favor. These will make this list even better!

I'd love to see what this deck would look like without the budget. You have a good eye for keeping on theme and making the most of what you got.

Conflykt Thank you! Depending on how competitive you wanted to go, a lot of the upgrades I would include in a non-budget version of this list are available in the maybe-board. I think it'd be extremely hard to get Thantis to a point of legitimacy in a competitive meta, but for a budget of a few hundred+, mostly what you'd be looking at is cards that simply tighten up our current gameplan - more impactful 5+ drops that can win the game faster, more resiliency for our board state against removal, and further wards against our opponents' attacks.
