I'm trying to make Quickling standard viable !!Hello everybody ! My name is -Sylex- and I had that crazy idea : I wanted to make a deck that used Quickling at his max potential. After a few unsuccessful attempts during KTK standard, I decided to design a Jeskai deck that made profit of the Quickling + Ephara, God of the Polis or Purphoros, God of the Forge combos, but it suffered from major inconsistency problems. But now, with the addition of Jeskai Barricade from Fate Reforged, Its like if I had twice as much Quickling s !

Playstyle/Synergies

The deck's main strength lies in all the little tricks and interactions between Quickling and Jeskai Barricade and the cards in the deck. I use a classic Jeskai shell (Mantis Rider, Seeker of the Way , Goblin Rabblemaster , etc) to have a solid base in case I cant assemble a 2 or 3 card synergy. Let's take a short look at some different possibilities. : Quickling and/or Jeskai Barricade + Purphoros, God of the Forge Quickling + Spirit Bonds Quickling + Wingmate Roc Purphoros, God of the Forge + Spirit Bonds Goblin Rabblemaster + Purphoros, God of the Forge Humble Defector + Quickling Goblin Rabblemaster + Jeskai Charm

Card Choices

In this section, I'll go onto more details regarding my thoughts on some of the deck's important cardsKey pieces Quickling and Jeskai Barricade : Theses are the two centerpieces of the deck. They allow a ton of little interactions, they both have flash, built-in creature protection and decent bodies all for the very reasonable CMCs of 1U and 1W. I gotta admit that I underestimated theses two cards when I was brewing. After some preliminary playtesting, I realized how good and flexible those two cards really are ! Spirit Bonds : Bonds is a ok card on his own with all the cheap creatures in the deck, but it really shines when it's paired with Quickling or Purphoros, God of the Forge as it gains you a increasing amount of value over time. Plus, you can sac a spirit to protect one of your threats. The Gods Keranos, God of Storms : Once you drop this bad boy into play, you get a steady flow of value.Plus, he's soooo good against U/B control and Abzan/Sultai/Mardu midrange decks which are 3 of the most popular and powerful decks of the format. Purphoros, God of the Forge : This card is insanely good with a lot of cards in the deck ! He's an all-star in grindy matchups and he grants massive amounts of value and potentially lethal damage almost in every game he's in.The Jeskai Shell Seeker of the Way , Goblin Rabblemaster , Mantis Rider, Jeskai Charm ,Wingmate Roc : Theses solid cards are here to put the deck's power level from casual to competitive, if piloted well.
