Let me preface by saying that my "playgroup" is one other guy I know that also plays MTG. We have no banlist, but I don't use the power 9 because they're overpowered to the point of making the game unfun. He plays competitively with some other people I don't know, but I only play with him. So, he makes his decks to suit the normal banlist and then tweaks them slightly to make them more broken when he plays against me.

This deck comes equipped with several different infinite mana combos. The reason for that is Thrasios himself is perhaps the best draw engine in the game, and his ability to draw my entire deck at instant speed plays very nicely with several of the other combos that otherwise end the game. The infinite mana combos are:

Any of Bloom Tender, Faeburrow Elder, or Sanctum Weaver can go infinite with either of Freed from the Real or Pemmin's Aura. This is my favourite option, even if it's not as competitive due to its higher overall mana cost.

Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy and Basalt Monolith. No auras involved, total investment of . The nice thing about this one is that the pieces fit in the deck as nice utility cards that support my game in general.

Devoted Druid and Swift Reconfiguration. total investment of . Neither card really stands out as a showstopper, but they can still be of some use outside of the combo.

Vigean Graftmage and Incubation Druid. Total investment of . These two are basically useless outside of this combo, but this is the only combo I can drop with the Flash Hulk combo listed below.

Combos of note:

--Flash Hulk--

Total cost of . You need to use this combo before your turn starts unless you have Concordant Crossroads out. Use Flash to cast Protean Hulk which will die as its ability triggers. Then you tutor Vigean Graftmage and Incubation Druid. Have the graftmage enter the battlefield first, and you'll use the triggered ability of Vigean Graftmage to put a +1/+1 counter on Incubation Druid. This enables infinite mana as long as one of your lands can tap for .

Alternatively, you can use the same Flash Hulk combo to tutor Cephalid Illusionist, Nomads en-Kor, and Laboratory Maniac. Nomads en-Kor's ability does not actually require that damage be on the stack, so you can activate it immediately, aim it at Cephalid Illusionist to mill your deck. On your draw step you will then win the game with Laboratory Maniac's static ability. You'll be in a real pickle if lab-man gets hit with removal, so it's advisable to have some interaction ready.

--Hermit Druid--

Total cost of . For this combo you need to run 0 basic lands. You activate the ability of Hermit Druid and put your entire library in your graveyard. That's normally a bad thing, but with a little reanimation and draw we can manipulate it to suit us. If we have Laboratory Maniac on the battlefield we just need to draw a card. If we go off before we've played him we can Reanimate either of Laboratory Maniac or Thassa's Oracle. Thassa's Oracle works better in that situation. but they can both perform. If we don't have any reanimation in hand at the time we can use the flashback cost of Dread Return by sacrificing some mana dorks.

--Nomad Illusionist--

Total cost of . For this combo you need to have Nomads en-Kor and Cephalid Illusionist on the field at the same time. Target the card:cephalid illusionst with the ability of Nomads en-Kor. No damage is actually necessary for this ability to be activated. Do this until you have milled your entire library. You will then be in the same position as for the Hermit Druid combo. You can either have Laboratory Maniac on the field first, cast Thassa's Oracle or use some form of reanimation.

--Demonic Consultation--

Total cost of , or up to . You'll need to cast Demonic Consultation or Tainted Pact and then cast Thassa's Oracle. That's it, game over. As usual, you can make it work with Laboratory Maniac. Just name a card you don't have in the deck when you cast the tutor spell and that will exile everything. Remember, there will be no reanimating an exiled card, so have your creatures in hand or in play before trying to go off.
