Death stops you not because your creatures always come back with the help of Athreos, God of Passage.
All humans rotate out for Zombies due to
Xathrid Necromancer
.
The deck is build so that each card will come around to around 2-3 points of damage average. You have lots of options for whatever you draw into.
Typical start is dropping either
Tormented Hero
or Duress. Cartel Aristocrat comes to help eat away at your opponent's life. If comboed with Athreos, God of Passage and
Xathrid Necromancer
, our humans will allow Cartel Aristocrat to go in unblocked while animating a Zombie and chomping the opponent for 3 health, as they will not want the cards back in your hand.
Master of the Feast is a beast. Run him and Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts in case the game gets hairy and you need a big boss monster.
With so many white/black and cheap spells we throw around, Athreos, God of Passage animates quite frequently.
Imposing Sovereign is teched in to prevent other aggro decks from wrestling away board control early.
Pain Seer
helps us race the opponent in damage and outpace their control by hand advantage.Core removal spells like Hero's Downfall and
Ultimate Price
take out scary threats that can wipe our board or disrupt our combo before we're done setting up.
Finally,
Mogis's Marauder
comes around as an ender. His ability to grab haste and intimidate on his cast means he's never dead. If draw late game, he ends the game for you, as all your nerds strike the enemy without block. He can also surprise animate Athreos, God of Passage with another cheap cast like Cartel Aristocrat or Master of the Feast to swing in quick and produce damage out of nowhere.
Debating the benefits of
Thrill-Kill Assassin
and what it would replace.
Banisher Priest
would find a place in the deck, but would shift the deck towards control more than aggression.Same argument with High Priest of Penance.
Considering replacing Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts because of the insane mana cost. Not sure what would go in there though. Maybe mainboard Whip of Erebos?
Any and all feedback/suggestions are welcome.
