I think it might have been a mistake to cut a soul sister here. i'd def go above 8 total before going below. Dark Confidant is great for card draw but you're not jund. you're not disabling / killing your oponent very quickly (at least not most of the time). between bob, fetching, shocking, bitterblossom and plain ol bad luck, you're not the favored match up against burn that your boros norin cousin is. having said that, here are my recomendations: find room for at least 2 Auriok Champion (can't fetch 'em with ranger but them's the breaks) , cut A): Hero of Bladehold , B): 1 Ranger of Eos or, I don't know. I just think you need a little "lose less" more than you're lacking in "win more", which is what hero is doing for you here. just my opinion.

I've wished I could find a spot for Elspeth, Knight-Errant in my own norin/sisters variant list. I love that card. a sucker for it, even. the thing is, if she's mostly just a potential +3/+3 and flying on a big as F pridemate or champion, (hopefully) for the kill, then why not just run a Fling or two and save ourselves the couple of mana and extra life loss from the bob flip? its no more difficult to counter than elspeth and can be cast after combat, in response to a path or Vapor Snag or whatever. I haven't tested with it but I've secretly wanted to. haha.

how will you deal with Torpor Orb ? it seems that it would completely screw up your game plan
May 18, 2014 9:19 a.m.
disclaimer: my above comment was not intended to suggest that I think you should run Fling in your deck ... unless you want to ;-)

Ah. Don't worry, redhowler, I don't plan on stealing your idea. It's a bit too situational, though, when it works out, it would be lovely. I have been trying to fit Elspeth, Knight-Errant into this deck since I first made it, but I just always seem to find something to switch it out for. I also agree with you on the Soul's Attendant situation, but I'm just not certain what to take out. I don't believe I'll ever cut down Ranger of Eos , 3 has seemed to work perfectly for me while playtesting. I do have an alternative to Searing Meditation and Fling That is much less situational. I had forgotten about Blasting Station . It untaps every time a creature enters the battlefield, not just under your control, which can mean A LOT of extra damage, because Genesis Chamber 's ability goes on the stack. Which means, you can tap, sac what ever just came in, untaps when Chamber resolves, then tap to deal another damage for each Chamber resolve. The best thing about this card, is that it doesn't require a mana cost when activating the ability. I don't have to make a decision on what to use, so I still can continue to sink extra mana into my Mentor of the Meek to draw cards.
@atlantis55555 As Kiora_Fan-01 said, Wear / Tear is my main defense against Torpor Orb , Engineered Explosives can also be used. I must admit, though, my defense against it is rather weak. If I can't deal with it, then it will shut me down quite well. I haven't seen many people use it in my meta, and in most cases I can deal with it using Wear .

nothing huge but Paraselene is strictly better than Tempest of Light in the sideboard.
May 19, 2014 11:59 p.m.
That's not entirely true, because Tempest of Light is an instant. Though, the life gain is nice on Paraselene , it is a sorcery. I'll take it into consideration. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah I didnt really look at that. You could also try Patrician's Scorn
May 20, 2014 1:23 p.m.
I've seen Patrician's Scorn and I do like it a lot. However, in this deck, I'd more than likely be hard-casting in most cases due to only having 3 white instants within the deck. It's normally best to use it as the opponent attacks, or immediately after they empty their hand of cheap enchantments.

this sideboard card was first brought to my attention by VampireArmy and I've since, not had an opportunity to make use of it myself, but what do you think of Hide/Seek against say... tron? or the mirror (or any deck running gods. especially the "your opponents can't gain life" one. yikes!!!)? or even pod since they like to run so many one ofs. Something I like about the "seek" part is that you aren't required to name the card before searching. you get to look at a players entire library and THEN decide what you dont want them to have. and you gain life on top of it. probably especially evil in tandem with cards like Nevermore , Pithing Needle and Slaughter Games but still a potentially very helpful and powerful card all on it's own.

I've actually already had Hide/Seek in the Sideboard before, but decided to take it out because it just wasn't as helpful as I'd hoped. 15 life from exiling an Emrakul, the Aeons Torn is awesome! It just doesn't deal with immediate threats as well as Wear / Tear , especially if the opponent has a way to tutor their Enchantments/Artifacts. It's also nice to be able to take out a Shrieking Affliction and an Ensnaring Bridge .

@NateJH- I haven't gotten it assembled in paper, so no tourney results as of yet. However, it has had a lot of online playtesting and has performed very well.

How did you change the colors of your name? I love Norin the Wary . It was such an undesirable card when it first came out. A lot of people still don't know how good it can be.
May 25, 2014 12:02 p.m.
You have to upgrade your account, then you can change it yourself. Yeah, Norin the Wary , he's pretty awesome. I wish I was around then, I've been playing for a little less than a year.
May 25, 2014 12:06 p.m.
I figured I would have to. Oh well. Norin the Wary has quotes on so many cards.
May 25, 2014 12:20 p.m.
Yeah, I know. I really like his quote on Lightning Elemental as well as, obviously, Goblin Shrine . haha. Norin the Wary may be cowardly, but he is no fool.
