Patriotic Power Play!!!!!! The New Weenie Legion

Standard RUW (Jeskai, America)

Lario

Sideboard

Creature (3)

Enchantment (2)

This deck is my own take on a white weenie deck. With some very powerful additions from blue and red in the main and sideboard, I feel that this deck has the tools to deal with most other deck types.

This deck has a ton of different synergies, and it works by putting out a good number of early game threats, with Boros Elite, Precinct Captain, and Akroan Hoplite. Once Brimaz, King of Oreskos comes to the party, things get even more fun.

Once board presence is established in turns 1-3, buffing enchantments like Spear of Heliod, Five-Alarm Fire, and Hall of Triumph, along with the gods, provide big synergy, turning every little weenie into a wincon. Whats that? a 5/5 one-drop Boros Elite coming at me that has first strike, trample, cant be blocked by creature tokens, can't be blocked by less than two creatures AND prevent all damage? Pshhh.

Here's a breakdown of the cards in this deck with my justification/reasoning:

1-Drops:

Boros Elite

This little guy seems to minuscule to bother removing, but can turn into a real treat later, when some enchantments come out and his battalion starts activating.

Legion Loyalist

God, do people hate this card. Nobody really seems to be playing it and it does great things for this deck. Synergizes amazingly well with Iroas, God of Victory and effectively counters Elspeth, Sun's Champion and other token-producing threats. It gives EVERYONE first strike and trample. Umm what? Okay, that's not annoying...

2-Drops:

Precinct Captain

No explanation really necessary here. He makes more weenies early by hitting the opponent fast. He buffs my devotion to make gods active. He makes opponents use removal on him often. He synergizes well with Legion Loyalist.

Akroan Hoplite

In my opinion, not an particularly strong card outright, but it works very well with this deck, what with all the token production and many attacking creatures. he often swings as a 5/3. Not too shappy for 2 mana. And 2 devotion toward activating Iroas, God of Victory doesn't hurt his case either.

Deputy of Acquittals

Much like the aforementioned Akroan Hoplite, this is anotehr card that synergizes well with what this deck is trying to do. Lets you save your Brimaz, King of Oreskos or active god by flashing it in response to a removal spell. You don't want your Ephara, God of the Polis getting hit with Deicide do you? No, of course you dont!

3-Drops:

Brimaz, King of Oreskos

This guy was originally in this deck as a 2-of, but then I came to my senses. He works so well with Iroas, God of Victory and Ephara, God of the Polis, as well as basically every other card in this deck. To play him as anything less thatn a 4-of is ridiculous. Only time I might take him out is against a deck very heavy with black removal, but even then...

Spear of Heliod

A must for any white weenie deck. Buff your weenies AND have a reliable removal spell that lets you get to scare off that mean Desecration Demon that's trying to intimidate you into sacrificing your precious weenies.

Hall of Triumph

This is a very new addition. Its not fancy, but it does give everything except Legion Loyalist a +1/+1 buff, and they can be stacked, unlike Spear of Heliod.

Detention Sphere

Its always good to have a little bit of removal, even if this is a creature deck. Takes care of pretty much anything besides hexproof or protection-white or blue.

Five-Alarm Fire

This is a card that doesn't see a lot of play, but works really well in this deck. Synergy with Iroas, God of Victory and the multitudes of tiny attacking creatures that this deck has. Add in Launch the Fleet, and its usually a game finisher. I put this card in intentionally for the luls, but when I topdecked it with 4 creatures on the field and Iroas, God of Victory to take out my opponent's Blood Baron of Viskopa I decided that it earned a place in the deck.

4-Drops, AKA the Gods

Iroas, God of Victory

This is one of the superstars of the deck. Since the card is new, not a lot of people see how difficult it is to block so many weenies with 2 creatures each. As soon as he is on the field, he insures that some damage will get through, especially with a Legion Loyalist preventing the opponent from blocking with tokens and providing trample damage. With some devotion to red and white which this deck has a ton of, a 7/4 body coming at you is no joke either.

Ephara, God of the Polis

This card is a good engine that keeps the deck running. many aggro decks have the tendency to fizzle out once they are left to top decking. Ephara ensures that my hand stays full to continue putting pressure. You can pull off fun tricks with 2 Deputy of Acquittals in play. She often becomes a 6/5 creature as a bonus.

Heliod, God of the Sun Heliod usually becomes a 5/6 creature pretty easily. The vigilance can sometimes be relevant, and the token creation ability synergizes well with Ephara, God of the Polis and can put more threats on the board if my hand lacks creatures to play.

Launch the Fleet

This card is really strong. A 1/1 hasted token for one mana, for each creature I have? Yes please. Works amazingly to finish opponents off, in conjunction with Iroas, God of Victory and Five-Alarm Fire.
