To add scry to this deck like you talked about with Serum Visions, you could start with Temple of Abandon. It isn't a Mountain or Forest but can tap for either a red or green mana.

Mtg_mill, I had considered it. However, I decided not to run them for two reasons:

  1. They aren't Mountains, and therefore that's about 15% less lands I can use for Valakut.
  2. The fact that they have to enter tapped can delay me by an entire turn, which in some cases can throw me the game.
I appreciate the idea, however, and I will definitely look further into it!

To help deal with your guys being tapped by Twin, and then sacced at end of turn, you could sideboard Sundial of the Infinite maybe.

I was looking for a sideboard card instead of Defense Grid against Twin!! Thank you so much casey

For sure. Sundial is one of my favorite obscure cards. Mostly use it in EDH, but this seems like a great application.

You should be running a playset of Cinder Glade to help maximize your mana correction. And they will enter tapped but are fetchable. Also cards like Harmonize can be beneficial for a green deck of the risk of draw from cards like Tormenting Voice seems too great. I personally think See the Unwritten is better than the pact for your list because it can give you both emrakul and prime time or just one of them and let emrakul shuffle your yard and himself back into the deck. Some lists also run Worldspine Wurm as another win con since he is s 15/15 trampler that if destroyed keeps your board supplied.

Also you didn't mention how bgx match ups can be horribly out of your favor. With Thoughtseize, Path to Exile, Terminate, Maelstrom Pulse, and creatures like Tasigur, the Golden Fang and Tarmogoyf with a Scavenging Ooze and Dark Confidant creature base they will out pace the strategy of your deck. So you heavily rely on valukaut being the win con. But they have in the sideboard Fulminator Mage

I like the list though. +1

Thanks for your insight Jamesfurrow. I will take your ideas into consideration! I especially love the idea of Worldspine Wurm. One of the reasons I like Emrakul, the Aeons Torn is because of the annihilator effect, but I think the Wurm could be a nice one as well. As far as the bgx matchups, I'm considering putting some Spellskites in the sideboard to redirect some of the killspells. All ideas though. The list is constantly evolving outside of the Valakuts, Titans, Breaches, and ramp.

Spellskite is definitly a creature to run in the list. Also keep in mind you can run a Bow of Nylea to help negate life loss and to keep putting fetch lands back into your deck for prime titan to keep fetching to help trigger valukaut

Is Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle a mountain?

type = land
no mention of it being a mountain on the card unless you count where it says
"5 other mountains"

andy_is_awesome, Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle is not a Mountain. What that part of the text to which you are referring is saying is that there must be 5 other Mountains in conjunction with the Mountain being played to activate the effect. In other words, 5 Mountains must be present before Valakut will start bolting.

makes sense.
if Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle was a mountain, I'd go out and buy 4 of them tomorrow. Super powerful in any deck. Still a very good card. works well in your deck.

yup! there are some neat little tips and tricks regarding that in the description. Yes I know it's lengthy, but it really draws out how the deck works and overall the archetype's functions. I'd suggest checking it out if you haven't.

Since you want as many Mountain drops as possible because of Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle, Cinder Glade may be something you want to consider. It'll let you drop 2 or 3 Forest to make the majority of your land drops be Mountains.

no emrakul?

Ryyan, I like Worldspine Wurm instead of Emrakul. More useable of a card in my opinion, and on a stronger note, makes my list unique in its own right. Originally they were Emrakuls tho
