Oviya Pashiri, Sage LIfecrafter

Commander / EDH

What is this pile?

A budget take on Oviya pashiri, sage lifecrafter as a mono-green token deck.

For quite some time I wanted to build a monogreen deck partly beacuse I always play blue. Be it Izzet, Grixis or Esper but somehow never green. So to force myself away from 'my beaten path' I decided on monogreen-go-wide. In essence; everything that I normally wouldn't play. So how and why does it work?

The basics

I wanted something that didn't "draw-play-a-land-pass-turn" holding up a counterspell. For once I didn't want to answer questions but wanted to ask them. Having something to do from the begining of the game was importent, so a 1cmc commander seemed like a perfect match! You play Oviya Pashiri, Sage Lifecrafter turn one, then a Skullclamp , Kazandu Tuskcaller , Llanowar Elves or a Thran Turbine turn two and start ramping hard. Once your mana starts piling up you start to make tokens. Making a couple of servos, or going for a X/X construct creature on turn 4 or 5 is nice, but what about the late game?

Getting there

Dropping Second Harvest into a construct-token or using Overrun or an active beastmaster's ascension to kill the entire table in one enormous swing is nice. It's no Craterhoof Behemoth - mainly due to budget constrictions - but it gets the job done. Drawing ridiculous amounts of cards with Rishkar's Expertise or a Shamanic Revelation makes you wonder what you were ever doing playing blue!

Where to go from here?

The deck feels quite resilient but pretty much only plays on one axis; going wide. Therefore I feel as if there's quite some room for tuning this to your meta in the utility-spots. We do not rely on our graveyard, on +1/+1-counters or on ETB-effects. Depending on your meta Torpor Orb , Silent Gravestone , Grafdigger's Cage Relic of Progenitus or The Immortal Sun are all viable options when choosing how to best force your playgroup to play 'fair' (what does fair even mean). So ask yourself this; are you the degenerate control/combo-player? Does your playgroup always wimper and whine for you to "play some fair magic" I.E. winning with combat damage by means of turning creatures sideways? Yes? Then try this on for size, hate them out - skip some of the cards in my list, and go all in 'screw you guys: We're all playing fair'. Thorn of Amethyst , Defense Grid , Trinisphere and Mana Web them into oblivion!
