My goal for this deck was to make it more than just a vampire-themed tribal aggro deck. Instead, the deck itself is vampiric. It manipulates you, it bleeds you, it drains your life until you are weak enough for the final strike.
Let's meet the cast.
Vampire Nocturnus
is my aggressive win condition. Get him out and suddenly even your Viscera Seers are 3/2 flyers. And at 4 mana you can get him out surprisingly early. What a horrible night to have a curse.
Olivia Voldaren
adds another control element and is good for longer matches. If you have nothing else to do you can sink mana into her to buff her up and steal your opponent's creatures. Or just kill them outright.
Bloodghast + Viscera Seer
and Bloodghast + Kalastria Highborn
are the secondary win condition. Together the let you sac your creatures and Scry to activate
Vampire Nocturnus
's effect while leeching your opponent's life. But wait, there's more! Bloodghast + Viscera Seer
means as long as you have a land to play, you can sac -> scry -> landfall. Free scry and a steady supply of sacrifices for
Kalastria Highborn
. And if your opponent has 10 or less life,
Bloodghast
gets haste so it's like he never even left.
Bloodghast
- This guy's job is to just swing. Swing all the time. Then die then swing more. Even if they chump block it feeds the Highborn and you can just bring him right back. He is the fuel for the Kalastria Highborn + Viscera Seer
sac-scry-leech engine.
Gatekeeper of Malakir
is basically a 3 CMC sorcery speed removal spell that puts a 2/2 vampire token into play. A good early game blocker and becomes a 4/3 flyer with Nocturnus.
Inquisition of Kozilek
lets you remove threats before they get a chance to enter the battlefield,.
Dismember
is effectively a 1-mana kill spell and Termiante hits almost everything else.
