Xenagos isn't that great except agains't control. I think he's not bad as a side card but you curve at 4, so ramping with sylvan is enough.
But the token is a great pressure agains't Esper and UW control. Also, as a Mono Black player, I already lost agains't gruul due to the lock that Xenagos proceed on Desecration Demon. So he's useful, but I agree with you that I wouldn't play him main deck.

+1 from me. Thanks for the idea of using Whip of Erebos !

No gorgons at all? It seems like Reaper of the Wilds has been getting some play lately; why not her?

I do like Reaper of the Wilds and was in here initially but had gotten cut for some other cards. Do you think it would suitably replace Read the Bones ? With Scry it's almost like it's a draw card.

I think so, despite the multi-coloured and +1-cost. I think with Courser of Kruphix helping you through your deck already, Reaper of the Wilds ' occasional morbid scry is helpful. plus that really nice 4/5 deathtouch/hexproof body she's got! xD

Thank you very much for your input! It is greatly appreciated and when I have the time I will sit down and tweak the deck a bit and see how it flows. If I took out one Whip of Erebos and one Erebos, God of the Dead it would leave room for more stuff. I am currently in search of the last temple of abandon I need. It will be going in at some point once I own it. I have been playing with the idea of maybe taking out Xenagos, The Reveler . His performance is always short-lived. He quickly becomes a target, which is is not too bad as long as you can at least get one use out of him. Every time I see him though his first ability doesn't really help all that much as I am running more Black spells then Red or Green.
