Grenzo, Dungeon Warden Edh - A combo deck for the everyman...person
This deck is built around the idea of having several combos available to the player and a hand full of back up solutions for executing those combos.
Here is a list of the main infinite combos and a sub list of each of their back up plans:
Mikaeus, The Unhallowed + Triskelion
- Infinite Damage/Creature ETB/LTB
(Trik will be a base 2/2 with three +1/+1 counters and undying {the
extra power/toughness and undying comes from Mik}, remove a counter to target any player and use the remaining counters to target itself killing it and triggering undying placing Trik back into play with four +1/+1 counters, rinse repeat for infinite damage){Note: this is "faster" with a sac outlet}
+ Murderous Redcap + Sac outlet
- Infinite Damage/Creature Sac/ETB/LTB
(An alternate for Trik, same concept, but uses the undying vs persist mechanic)
+ Workhorse + Sac outlet
- Infinite Colourless Mana/Creature Sac/ETB/LTB
(An alternate for Trik, Workhorse enters as a base 1/1 with four +1/+1 counters and undying, counters can be removed creating each, sac workhorse and it returns via undying)
+ Puppeteer Clique + Sac outlet
- Although not truly infinite it provides ample opportunity for shenanigans with creatures in opponent's graveyards. And a large number of Creature Sac/ETB/and LTB. (An alternate for Trik, undying vs persist mechanic)
Sac outlet + Dualcaster Mage + Unearth
- Infinite Storm/Creature Sac/ETB/LTB
(Cast Unearth targeting a valid creature in the bin, with Unearth on
the stack use Dualcaster Mage to copy the spell, with the trigger of the copy on the stack sacrifice Dualcaster placing it in bin, target it with the copy of Unearth, returning it to field, rinse repeat)
+ Victimize
- Infinite Storm/Creature Sac/ETB/LTB
(Alternate for Unearth, but can target an additional creature in bin each time it is cast)
[WARNING: Victimize does have a tapped clause, use with caution on creatures with haste such as Kiki]
+ Living Death
- Infinite Storm/Creature Sac/ETB/LTB
(Alternate for Unearth, but includes a creature board wipe with each cast)
[WARNING: Use sparingly - dependant on board state and opponent graveyards]
Nim Deathmantle + Sac outlet + Workhorse
- Infinite Creature Sac/Creature ETB/LTB
(Remove all counters from Workhorse, use produced to return Workhorse to the battlefield equipped, remove all counters again and sac, rinse repeat)
+ Pawn Of Ulamog/Sifter of Skulls + Priest of Gix/Priest of Urabrask/Emrakul's Hatcher
- Infinite Creature Sac/Creature ETB/LTB
(Alternates for Workhorse, requires and a death trigger off of either Priest or Hatcher which will trigger Pawn/Sifter to create a Spawn/Scion token which can be Sacced for to pay for Nim's ability returning the priest/hatcher to play with Nim attached along with their ETB triggers, rinse repeat)
+ Pitiless Plunderer + Priest of Gix/Priest of Urabrask/Emrakul's Hatcher
- Infinite Creature/Artifact Sac & Creature/Artifact ETB/LTB
(Alternates for Workhorse, requires and a death trigger off of either Priest or Hatcher which will trigger Pitiless Plunderer to create a Treasure token which can be Sacced for to pay for Nim's ability returning the priest/hatcher to play with Nim attached along with their ETB triggers, rinse repeat)
+ Panharmonicon + Priest of Gix/Priest of Urabrask/Emrakul's Hatcher
- Infinite red or black Mana/Creature Sac/ETB/LTB
(Alternates for Workhorse, due to Panharmonicon: each priest creates an
additional three mana of their respective colour, Hatcher produces an additional three spawn tokens)
Kiki Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Zealous Conscripts
- Infinite Creature ETB/Infinite 3/3 token creatures with haste
(Use Kiki Jiki to make a token copy of Conscripts, use Conscripts' ETB ability to untap Kiki, rinse repeat until satisfied)
{Use Doomsday to set up this combo.
Required setup: Grenzo on field at minimum power of 3, and
access to and an additional to activate Grenzo's ability. Each card past three is protection insurance which will cost an additional two mana into Grenzo. Make these additional two choices wisely based on the board state!}
Doomsday (Sorcery) - (Order five cards from your deck and graveyard, exile the rest, lose half your life)
Order as follows:
Bottom - Workhorse/Emrakul's Hatcher/Priest of Gix/Priest of Urabrask [SPECIAL NOTE: FAVOUR WORKHORSE!]
2 - Kiki Jiki, Mirror Breaker [If using any 3 mana producer you must make a copy of that creature! unless you have excess mana, but I advise ordering as such]
3 - Zealous Conscripts (completes the combo with Kiki)
[The next two cards in your pile make up contingency plans for removal of Kiki (the only valid target to stop the combo), you will need an additional 2 mana for each of these which should be fine provided you chose any of the mana producer options and made copies of them with Kiki)
4 - Faceless Butcher {works at instant speed protection vs exile, destroy or death effects}
[WARNING: THIS OPTION DOES NOT WORK WITHOUT A CREATURE SAC TRIGGER!If lacking a sac outlet move Butcher to the top of the five card stack and replace card four with something to force a creature sac. Only attempt this is you have access to an additional two mana. Which is available through a Workhorse copy]
(Use Grenzo's ability, Target Kiki with Butcher's exile effect, allow the removal to fizzle without a valid target, sacrifice Butcher, Kiki comes back safe and sound)
4 (alternate) - Epitaph Golem {works post destroy or death effects}
[WARNING: this option requires an additional four mana for activation of Epitaph
Golem and Grenzo. The planned bottom card will not account for this additional mana, but Workhorse will place you two mana closer provided you made a copy of it with Kiki]
(Allow Kiki to die and hit the bin, activate Golem's ability to place Kiki back on the bottom of your library, activate Grenzo to place Kiki back on board, continue with combo)
5 - This is a Flex slot!
