Yeah I like the way Ashiok can grind out midrange and can affect the board state.
And you know RTA will be sideboard material for most matches that aren't midrange lol. Aggro, Jeskai, temur monsters. It's such a versatile card with Sorin

looking at the landbase while im testing this out you might want to remove a swamp and add 2 confluence instead.
December 24, 2014 11:23 a.m.
Done and done.
Removed a Delta and a Strand for 2x Confluence.

4x ashiok too manyin my time playing grixis last standard I found 3 to be perfect. 4 of a legendary should only be when it is basically impossible to win without drawing that single card, which is not the case with your deck. In addition ashiok typically stays on the board for awhile.
December 26, 2014 2:37 p.m.
@LordOfDispair I don't think so, Ashiok is an all star in this deck and alot of people are just happy to be rid of him only to have my drop him again. Easily a 4 of. If need be I can SB some copies out for more control/draw power.
lol, I just played out a game where I went though 3 copies of him and had PreZchoICE1 milled down to 8 cards left before we had to call it quits due to life interference lol.

Wouldn't Read the Bones be better than Sign in Blood in a control deck?
December 27, 2014 1:01 p.m.
Ah, The 2 CMC compared to the 3 CMC makes all the difference.
If i'm casting out a Sign in Blood i'll always want to have mana open for a hard counter or kill spell, It's just a matter of 5 CMC or 6 CMC.
Not saying Read the Bones wouldn't be good. It's all just about preference.=)

Pearl Lake Ancient is probably more appropriate than Prognostic Sphinx for a deck with this much board control.
December 27, 2014 4:07 p.m.
@jimpachi98 It's actually something I want to playtest soon.

im just wandering, with all the extensive research ive been doing on control decks, is it bad to run so much, win conditions??
i made my own version of this deck, a jeskai version, you seem to know about control, can you lend a hand?
December 29, 2014 12:18 a.m.
@BFG it's very fun, to play anyways, not so much against lol.
I was thrilled how it worked when I tested it out the first time.
December 29, 2014 12:41 a.m.
what are your sideboard cards vs control. see 2Negate, 2Thoughtseize and 2Pearl Lake Ancient what you replace it with?
2Bile Blight 2End Hostilities and......Sorin???
December 29, 2014 7:09 p.m.
I'd go with Negate>Sign in Blood. Thoughtseize>Bile Blight and probably the Prognostic Sphinx<Pearl Lake Ancient
December 29, 2014 7:17 p.m.
Have you considered Read the Bones over Sign in Blood? The extra mana is usually worth it. With all the instant and sorceries that will probably be in your graveyard i'm surprised you aren't running Treasure Cruise either. Not a ton but even one or two can really change the game.

Great deck! It definitely packs a punch. One detail from your description was off though, Stormbreath Dragon has protection from white, and would not be affected by Elspeth, Sun's Champion's -3 ability. But seriously this is a super rad deck and is sure to lose you lots of friends!
December 30, 2014 12:08 a.m.
@Lisforlucifer actually that is wrong. I will direct you here for the proper rulings for protection from x
December 30, 2014 12:18 a.m.
No, Divination isn't at instant speed and we need our turn and the mana to make the proper plays to adjust the board in our Favor.
It's in the SB to side in for Jace's Ingenuity because it's cheaper and less intensive on the mana, so in some circumstances (aggro) it might be better to swap instant for instant.

looks legit, cant wait to play vs it. I like that RTA include and assume you'll bring that it game 2 vs anything not abzan. I like you running ashiok mainboard since most of the field is still going to be abzan in some way for the forseeable future.
