Played the list showing as of this date.
Decided to not even get Fetid Pools later. This current mana base was so solid through 3 rounds of best of 3... I don't remember playing a tapped land at all other than late game Hall of Storm Giants.
Probably still getting Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet.
Unsure when to board in Narset's Reversal sometimes.
Lost vs. Spirits because of Wedding Announcement
Flip post sideboard.
Spirits is confusing sometimes. I think I wasted a counterspell on a Slip Out the Back to cement my board wipe. But the creature I made sure to kill was a 1/1 and I think the value loss of doing that was a stumbling block.
After that I was out of counterspells. For some reason all the spirits just tribal fuck me by pumping each other and stuff and I may have been overly focused on clearing the board that turn. I needed to think longer term and not freak out as much.
Overall 1 win and 2 losses... which is better than I was doing before. The other deck I lost to was Niv to Light feat. Yorion and Tibalt. I'm not sure how else I should have played it, because I didn't want to let him resolve Omnath or Bring to Light but he worked through 4 or 5 of my counterspells by just casting things that I couldn't logically allow him to resolve and then had another BTL. He Brought Tibalt to light and then I got squashed.
The win was against a creativity player. I won the first round with Hall of Storm Giants. I held onto my counterspells for so long and let him resolve so much stuff but then I had to protect my Dig Through Time and after that I had Fatal Push, Extinction Event and Sheoldred's Edict. I had been letting him attack me with a fable token because I wanted him to make the treasure tokens and just use the Indomitable Creativity card which that deck is built around so I could counter it.
But then by the time I cast the dig he had only 2 cards in hand, he cast his counter then he had 1. I used my negate, (after using other counterspells on other things but not on a lot of stuff during the preceding turns,) figuring that after that I would be able to justify risking no counterspells in hand because the result of 3 cards in hand vs. 1 would be so likely to be in my favor.
And then the next thing he did was cast creativity! It was the last card he had. He sacrificed treasure tokens to pay the cost and targeted the fable token with the spell. I think he targeted a clue also. With the spell on the stack I fatal pushed the token, so he resolved a worldspine wurm with no haste. Then before the end of his turn I made him sac it with the Sheoldred's Edict and then on my turn I cast Extinction Event. Then after that I got lucky that he top decked nothing and I killed him with Hall of Storm Giants.
He won the second round with hullbreacher horror. I won the third round because he was mana-screwed.
Thats how fnm went down.
Also unsure about when to board in Siphon Insight.
In youtube videos Gabriel basically just does it, without really explaining in depth. Siphon Insight is "for grindy matchups," I guess.
I changed the sideboard a little to adjust for niv to light deck and I will post the changed version when I take it to another FNM!
