Are you sure that person will still be friends with you after you main board Sowing Salt against his tron deck?

Haha!! Yes. The group is really really casual and the atmosphere is always fun and filled with beer. This tron affinity deck has wrecked everyone for a few months. So a little red payback is in order. Because I only play casually I'd really appreciate some tips.

Updated the deck quite a bit so I could play it against other decks as well. Sowing salt and smelt moved to sideboard :-)

Splash white for the path of exiles, get some dreadbores to kill of the karns and ugin's (still good removal if they don't play them). Sideboarding stony silence will destroy them ( partially why I'm telling you to splash white).

Thats awesome! Thank you! I need to fix the mana base. It definitely needs a lot of work if I'm going to splash white. I'm buying dreadbores and path to exiles now.

What should I remove?

get rid of madcap skills and titan strength. To be totally honest I don't love your creatures that much as well, here are some suggested switches:Non-Budgetlingering souls (just a dope card)high priest of penance (more removal)thoughtseize (not a creature but still great. Ideally 2-3)Budget (but still cards you should put in if you can afford non-budget)vampire nightstalker (block and lifegain, if you're playing three color life loss is almost unavoidable)gatekeeper of malakir (great going against pesky hexproof)vampire hexmage (for sideboard against planeswalkers)

Oh and get some rift bolt's, they're good.

Since you have it tagged with land destruction Rain of Tears and Molten Rain are very efficient. Could also use Stone Rain to help keep affinity and tron off their mana. Id like to see Murderous Cut in here because it's cheap and efficient as killing creatures. Could also run some black creatures such as Vampire Nighthawk. Ik my suggestions can easily be made with other more efficient cards but I'm looking at the deck and I get a budget kind of vibe so I'm trying to keep my suggestions in a reasonable price range for you. Anyways I hope those help

I tagged land destruction specifically because my friend plays urza's in both of his modern decks. That's why I included Ghost Quarter and Sowing Salt. That being said I think I'll swap Ghost Quarter for a couple Molten Rain. When I playtest the deck Ghost Quarter just slows me down.

I'd really just like to splash black and keep the focus on burn and hand hate. Unfortunately Murderous Cut can't kill Etched Champion but I'll sideboard it for when I play other decks.

Thank you for the help!

Here's an idea for you to consider: Dash Hopes. Two black mana for 5 damage seems good.

A very cool card. Thank you. But, the double black scares me. I'm increasingly leaning away from black and more towards red while narrowing the focus to burning the enemy from 20 to 0

Dump grim lavamancer, add Ball lightning.

I'm thinking about it. Need to play more!! Was also considering Searing Blaze Problem with Ball Lightning and my Hellspark Elementals for that matter. Is that the damage can be mitigated.

So for the mana, go 12 fetchlands, 3 Sacred Foundry, 1 Blood Crypt and 2 Mountain. You honestly need only 18 lands, and then even fewer lands that actually produce mana. Also, Goblin Guide is your friend. I'd go like -2 lands, -2 Magma Jet and +4 Goblin Guide.

One card I think you can change out is Murderous Cut for Terminate it will accomplish the same goal at basically the same cost but it can't be regenerated and will leave plenty of exile targets for your Grim Lavamancer

As someone said above, 20 lands for this build is probably excessive, I have a very similar list and I run 19, only because I hate getting mana screwed and can't bring myself to do 18 in a 3 color deck.

As far as the fetch lands go, you don't need to spend so much on Arid Mesa, you can fetch everything in the deck with Wooded Foothills for like 1/3 of the price. That being said, if you have the money to spend by all means pick up the Mesas.
