how come you don't run 2x Fanatic of Mogis instead of two of the Felhide Petrifier , and yea, I think Grix is right, i think i would run Magma Jet instead of Lightning Strike .Also, this is just a theory, but with the new "electrickery" land Battlefield Forge you could run Boros Charm .The new multilands are really cheap, so that could be an option while still keeping the deck remotely cheap :)

Fanatic of Mogis is a sideboard for situations I know i can keep a board presence and will need the bypass. In most scenarios my Minos are just too fast against the local meta. I'm usually swinging for well over 10 by turn 4 or 5. The red devotion presence doesn't really get that high except when I have a long game and I'd rather have the chance at deathtouch than a burn. It promotes no blockers by the opponent if they're trying to set the board - which against my deck is one of the worst mistakes you can make. For all you know my next drop is going to completely change how my minos swing (Kragma Warcaller /Rageblood Shaman - or Rageblood Shaman + Ragemonger + Ragemonger ). - that's five mana for three creaturesc. it's happened before.I guess there's really no argument against Magma Jet other than the extra damage shot, but I suppose since I have a lot of three drops... and I don't want too many repeats it's a strong idea.
As for the Boros Charm - Deck is post rotation. I literally don't have a single card in my collection older than Theros. I'm being stubborn and keeping it that way. Thanks for the suggestion though.

What about Mogis's Warhound ? A turn two drop with a very cheap bestow cost.
August 2, 2014 8:29 p.m.
He's not a minotaur. So he'd really have no place in the deck. Even if he was mainboarded, I wouldn't waste the mana paying his bestow cost. Kragma Warcaller gives my Minotaurs +2/+0 on the swing. I swing out no matter what.
I appreciate the suggestion but there's literally just no useful place for something that isn't a Minotaur (besides Mogis, God of Slaughter himself of course

cool deck! +1 for keeping it standard. Now i am tempted to try and bring my deck to standard format... or maybe ill build a 2nd.
check out my tribal deck if you get a chance They did the Minotaur Mash!. It's Modern but it is starting to feel pretty solid, sure is fun to play! gonna test it at FNM soon.
Rollick of Abandon could be a good card for you to run, expensive, but once you have a Rageblood Shaman out it can be the card you need to knock out the opponents weak blockers and then swing for big damage for the win.
August 5, 2014 7:16 p.m.
I actually considered Rollick of Abandon for a while, but the problem is that it gives a bonus to all creatures. That can present more problems than solutions in certain situations. I'd rather nerf the field entirely for less mana and the scry.
That's the other major problem is the five mana. With an active Ragemonger the actual mana peak for this deck is my two Mogis, God of Slaughter . So most of my cards are being cast for one to two mana.
Throwing in a five mana spell for my sideboard is just too disruptive in my opinion. I'd rather keep it at three. Because the reality is that Boss Sly is already tearing you apart before turn 5.
Thanks for the great suggestion though! It's appreciated.

great deck kinda like mine except for i have Fanatic of Mogis and Doom Blade in mine. I might have to add Hero's Downfall after the rotation
August 12, 2014 7:33 p.m.
Nice deck.I use Fanatic of Mogis on the sideboard as a way to get around heavy defense and longer games as a method of direct burn. With the right hand I can have plenty of red devo on the field by turn 5. Probably best case scenario you could drop Fanatic of Mogis for a burn of 9 by turn 5.
Turn 1 - Swamp into Gnarled Scarhide | LT 20
Turn 2 - Mountain into Deathbellow Raider | LT 18
Turn 3 - Mountain into Ragemonger | LT 14
Turn 4 - Swamp into Ragemonger into Rageblood Shaman into Rageblood Shaman into Deathbellow Raider | LT 8
Turn 5 - Temple of Malice into Fanatic of Mogis (Burn for 9) | LT 0

Stain the Mind is perfect for U/W control where they depend on Sphinx's Revelation . I was having a lot of trouble with them and needed a solution for it. Not nearly as good as Rakdos's Return or Slaughter Games , but for Tournament Standard, it definitely helps since we are at a disadvantage for cards. I'm doing nearly the same thing as you are.
August 14, 2014 11:09 p.m.
Forgot to say. I replaced the Fanatic of Mogis in the sideboard. I rarely find a time when I can use it. If I have enough creatures, I overrun them. If the game goes long, usually it's because they killed all my creatures, so the lack of devotion hinder's it's effects.

That's a really awesome suggestion! Thanks Iowaska! I do struggle a bit with control. I have a decent chance to outrun them but this is definitely a great suggestion. Appreciate it!
August 14, 2014 11:40 p.m.
I have actually been considering dropping the Kragma Butcher .I literally groan when I draw him. He's just so... useless. There's better cards I could run.
August 14, 2014 11:43 p.m.
Felhide Spiritbinder or drop them for more tricks: Fall of the Hammer , Flurry of Horns , Read the Bones , Sign in Blood , Obelisk of Urd , and SB: Anger of the Gods
August 15, 2014 12:31 a.m.
2x Felhide Spiritbinder and 1x Obelisk of Urd sounds like a decent swap.
Never was fond of Spiritbinder due to mana costs, but I guess late game cloning Kragma Warcaller would be a real bind for the opponent.
August 15, 2014 5:17 a.m.
I hear ya, but provides nice cover when you manage to put a Spiritbinder down without a counter, and then can duplicate itself for more creatures, as it can't be countered (as no Stifle ). Additionally, can use opponents big creatures against them if need be,

I would strongly recommend Titan's Strength for early game pressure and you get to scry one. I use them in my Mino deck Red/Black Minotaurs (Theros Block, Post-Rotation). Or Dragon Mantle for card advantage and land utilization.

Disregard that first part of my comment. I totally over looked that the TS were in your Mainboard ><
September 17, 2014 11:26 a.m.
Thanks for the suggestions Tornado! And no worries on the mistake. I will have to pass on the mantle however. While the card draw is nice, I feel like limiting which minotaur i can pump just invites bias targeting. I want them to think hard on which one of the many to kill. On top of that, I want to usually keep land open for options like Deathbellow Raider regenerate or dropping in combat tricks. Or at least making the opponent think I will.
But great suggestion nonetheless!

Wasn't very competitive. Especially in RTR/THS where Mono- was just meaner and control just shut me down with counters, life gain, and board wipes.
But sometimes it just got there and ran right through your opponent. I used it a lot to teach new players how to play Magic. It was simple to use and simple to understand.
Was fun for just having a good time at one of our tournaments, regardless of winning or not.

Yea haha those are the best decks in my opinion tho. Ill take a fun semi competitive deck over a bland t1 deck anyday

Magma Jet or Silence the Believers ? Just a thought. Magma Jet is a good card because it lets you see what cards you're gonna be getting soon and Silence the Believers is good removal for block constructed.
