Sideboard

Well, it's simple. This is a Jund reanimator deck that is meant for the lovers of large minions, playing them early, and playing them often. The deck is named Combustible Primordial Soup after the two cards that inspired it: Combustible Gearhulk and Sylvan Primordial . By cheating these two creatures (and plenty of others) in early with our reanimation spells, we can completely take over the game. Land advantage, card advantage, damage advantage, you name it and this deck can do it. Woodfall Primus is arguably a better version of Sylvan Primordial, except that I love that the Primordial helps us ramp to be able to simply hard cast our massive creatures. Flayer of the Hatebound is a real powerhouse in this deck as well. In all, you should think of playing this deck if you are sick of bolt-snap-bolting people, path to exiling creatures, casting scapeshift, or trying to assemble your precious tron lands quickly. In other words, you want to be different, and have some fun!

These are our cards that make this deck tick, they let us drop our huge creatures into the graveyard without losing card advantage for the most part, and they are perfectly on curve compared to our reanimators.
  • Faithless Looting

This is one of the better engines, as it comes out the earliest and doesn't hurt as badly if countered. Plain and simple, draw two, drop two.
  • Tormenting Voice

This is another stellar engine for our deck, perhaps even better than Faithless. It represents card advantage, and the ability to keep certain hands JUST because it is in one of the seven.
  • Lotleth Troll

This guy is stellar. He's not easy to beat in combat, or to destroy with spells. He allows us to continually drop off our fatties, all while growing fatter himself. He has trample built in, which helps him chip in some damage as the game progresses.
  • Lightning Axe

Wasn't in the original build of this deck, but needed more early game interaction, and this guy does it all for us.

The meat and potatoes of our deck, the fun stuff, the shenanigans, it all begins here. The greatest part about this deck is that there are SOOOOOO many amazing creatures to choose from to fill these positions. Partial to Prime Time or Grave Titan? They work here. Like yourself Ashen Rider over Sylvan Primordial? He works too. In all, the reason this deck is so fun is because of the crazy unique creatures that can fill these spots, and they ALWAYS feel amazing when they hit the board.
  • Combustible Gearhulk

One of the namesakes of our deck, this guy is a stud. Both options he presents are absolutely awful news for our opponent on turn 3, as he has the potential to deal 20+ damage if they decide to mill, and represents massive card advantage if they don't. The fact that he can be put into play permanently by turn 3 or 4 is just amazing.
  • Sylvan Primordial

The other powerhouse and namesake of the deck. While not as back breaking as his twin brother Woodfall Primus, the Primordial helps US ramp ourselves, which is huge in a deck with such a high average cmc. Those extra lands help us hard cast our Combustible Gearhulks, Demon of Dark Schemes, and more, all while setting our opponents back a turn or two in the process.
  • Noxious Gearhulk

Perfect complimentary hulk card for our deck. We could always use some life and an evasive attacking ability.
  • Flayer of the Hatebound

Evil. Pure evil. A turn 3 Flayer of the Hatebound off of Footsteps of the Goryo represents nine damage divided into two segments, and can really put your opponent on their heels. If you're lucky enough to have him stick around, he can win you the game all on his own.
  • Woodfall Primus

Probably the most evil card in the deck other than Flayer of the Hatebound. A 5/5 trampler on turn 3 off of Footsteps of the Goryo that blows up two lands (or other things) is agonizing for the opponent. While running a full playset seems like a no brainer, he actually doesn't do all that much else for our deck than that. I prefer Sylvan over him simply because Sylvan puts us AHEAD by a turn, whereas this guy simply puts the opponent BEHIND by two turns. Either way, he is nuts, and definitely needs to be in here.
  • Protean Hulk

Think of this guy as a saving grace if you see the play with him on turn 3 with Footsteps of the Goryo. Need a boardwipe? Find Demon of Dark Schemes. Need a big fatty and some cards? Combustible Gearhulk. He represents a fifth Gearhulk and a second Demon in my eyes to the deck.
  • Grave Titan

Easily swapable with Prime Time in our deck, Grave Titan demands answers immediately, and is super spicy for our build.

  • Vigor Mortis

The simplest reanimator in our deck, just a 4 mana reanimator that probably makes our big creature a little bigger. I wish this one was an instant like Makeshift Mannequin, but I am aware of how broken that would be. This card gets the job done, and that +1/+1 counter can be relevant in some scenarios.
  • Makeshift Mannequin

This is my favorite reanimator spell in the deck because the worst removal spell we could see against us is also one of the most played in the format, Path to Exile. That card really damages our strategy of reviving fallen creatures. Also, the instant speed of this card is absolutely crucial, and can help us make surprising board advancing plays that are hard to catch up with for our opponents.
  • Footsteps of the Goryo

Our earliest and most fun reanimator, and the base for which this entire deck stands upon. This card is what enables our deck to have such explosive turn 3 plays, broken even in some senses.

What should you look for when playing this deck?

You should look for at least two of the three ingredients of this deck in your opening hand to make it viable. A discard/draw card is ideal, as well as a reanimation spell. Having a 'target' in your opening hand is a big bonus, but it isn't quite as important as the other two. You are fairly likely to draw into a big monster, and it is safer to keep a hand without one but good ways to reach one than to keep a hand with them but no plays to make with them.
