Rakdos Charm for sideboard. Maybe Maelstrom Pulse too? Sword of Feast and Famine is interesting. I like Sword of Light and Shadow for lifegain to counteract Bob. I've found Forked Bolt to be pretty useful as well.

This build looks fun. How is Bitterblossom working out?

Yes, that's one thing I'm looking to change. I just need to get my hands on some Sword of Light and Shadow to swap out for the F&F.

I Looked at Rakdos Charm, Sprouting Thrinax as well for grindy matchups.

I like Maelstrom Pulse but I want to ensure I'm hitting the cascade off Violent Outburst.

Forked Bolt is an interesting idea actually, i like it to deal with tokens for sure. Lingering Souls is starting to become a thing.

...This deck is begging for Bloodbraid Elf.

Bitterblossom is fantastic man, a constant stream of bodies to attach a sword or abuse an outburst with, netting it on a cascade is pretty cool too.

If all else fails, just beat it with a crowbar. Words to live by.

Anyways, it seems like this deck would be better with a Goblin Guide. Seems like they would be better then birds. Maybe take out a couple birds and a Monastery Swiftspear or something. Idk. +1!

You could have a spicy Cascade board.

Also I would probably go to 2x Terminate and add 1x Slaughter Pact and 1x Dismember just in case the is hard to cast.

@scrotality that's definitely something to ponder about.

I do like Raging Ravine much better than the Lavaclaw Reaches for sure and shit yeah Ancient Grudge looks like it'd do work against affinity.

I really like Monastery Swiftspear, but I'm not sure I like her in this build. You only have 21 non-creature spells that can trigger her prowess. While I can appreciate the need for early pressure, why not make a op end to the curve? Something like Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip, either that or Goblin Guide (which I can already see in the maybe board).

A Thrun, the Last Troll out of the side may be a good thing since you will need to have a backup plan if you cannot play under a tempo or control deck.

I thought about Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip but it's cost is a bit steep for where I want to take the brew, But i'll definitely consider him and Thrun, the Last Troll. Both could be viable plays in the deck.

What about a Sword of War and Peace instead of double G/B swords? The life gain isn't insignificant if you play burn/aggro decks and it is superb at punishing decks that think it's cool to play with a fistful of cards(like anyone else playing Dark Confidant). And I agree that Thrun, the Last Troll is a better choice than Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip, he's way harder to get off the field than any other threat, and if you can get a sword on Thrun you've pretty much locked the game away.

I've been waiting for someone to make a decent deck with Bitterblossom. It's such a house.

Yeah I've always liked Bitterblossom, ended up with 3 at the GP and then scoped out Violent Outburst and then immediately thought how fun it would be with Bob.

How about Deathmark in the side against Abzan (and by Abzan, I mean PreZchoICE1, lol)

February 26, 2015 1:12 p.m.

Caligula says... #22

Lol, Deathmark is something we tossed around quite a bit in the brew, it's very well positioned in the meta right now. So it could be a good play.

My idea of axing it though is me already running 8 mb removal (not including bolt) and 2 Slaughter pact.

But it could go in place of the pact because I can trigger it off cascade.

PreZchoICE1 says... #23

I suggested Deathmark I'll have you know scrotality

I like the idea of having 2x Terminate and 2x Slaughter Pact it seems fine and gives you possibly another free trigger on taylor if u needed it

I like Raging Ravine but Im still going to make a case for Lavaclaw Reaches, because I feel like it's relevant. If you draw Reaches in the late game you can still go big with it if you need to either in a blocking role or as an attacker the next turn. That flexibility to pump it to kill an opposing Siege Rhino is valuable. Its susceptible to the same amount of removal the Ravine is, but it can get in the red zone for much more damage either forcing a block, or making a large block. Ravine drawn in the late game is going to be a 3/3. thats it. It can also get in the red zone but its red zone is much narrower, and as a blocker will die to most decks finishers such as Tasigur or Rhino.

All that said I think ether would be a fine choice since it is only a singleton, I just think the reaches has more explosive potential.

February 26, 2015 4:55 p.m.

Caligula says... #25

Yeah, I totally see your case for the argument there and it has some synergy with the swords in that sense, I can just pump, attack and then untap the lands for a second main phase.
