Played two games of Commander tonight.
2nd Place in first Pod
Pod of three.
One Player had Talrand, Sky Summoner as his Commander.
He went out first after I started to hit him with fliers, after he had started Countering and removing my Creatures.
The Player who won was using Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis
as his Commander.
We both fell down to 8 life but he was able to sure up the win due to the fact that my Creatures kept entering the field tapped, because he had Authority of the Consuls on the field.
I did a spectacularly good play where I board wiped by giving all his Indestructible Creatures -X/-X, then forced him to Sacrifice his remaining Indestructible Creature, which had survived the board wipe.
I did a silly play where I cast a card that removed all Counters from permanents, putting my Commander on 0 loyalty counters.
1st Place in second Pod
We used Planeschase cards for this Pod.
I don't remember what Commanders were used by the first two Players who left the Pod.
The first Player found his life total reduced to nought when one Player was able to put a lot of lands on the field, and hit us with a lot of Creatures, when a Planeschase card fell in his favour.
I was able to kill this Player when the Planeschase card was in my favour, and I was able to finish him off by httting him with Raving Dead and two 5/5 Demon Tokens, then a killing blow with Exsanguinate.
The final Player who was using Mizzix of the Izmagnus as his Commander just got unlucky in that the Planeschase card nerfed him. It took 1 life from him every time he played a non-black spell, so he wasn't able to answer my Creatures attacking him.
Board wipes are what gave me the advantage tonight.
It's definitely best to make a 5/5 Demon as soon as my Commander comes in, then continually rotate between his 1st and 2nd abilities.
It's also best to always keep one Creature untapped to defend him.
