chetoos, thanks for the suggestion man. Someone suggested the one-of Wilt-Leaf Liege that's in the deck a while back, which got me thinking of the Creakwood Liege for this deck. I couldn't do much editing to the 4 drop slot of the deck, so I playtested the impact of Creakwood vs Wilt-Leaf, because the deck can really only fit one, and Wilt-Leaf is just the better option. Not saying Creakwood is bad in any way for the deck synergy wise, but it is easier to remove, and does not anthem the strongest token color for the deck in white. More often than not, there is more white tokens on the battlefield than black tokens, so Wilt-Leaf was perfect for the white anthem.

i don't think that Wilt-Leaf Liege is that great in here. you don't have many green greatures. Honor of the Pure pumps all the same creatures except Birds of Paradise except its cheaper. also Timely Reinforcements seems out of place to me. i can't imagine too many situations where you have less creatures than the opponent. i feel like you'd want something like Raise the Alarm or Spectral Procession (although that one is much harder to use optimally due to mana constraints i'd imagine).

aholder7, I disagree with a lot of what you said. Wilt-Leaf Liege makes my Voice of Resurgence and voice tokens absolutely insane, and is really fun against Liliana of the Veil and Kolaghan's Command. Its only a one-of because it's mana intensive, but giving the best creatures in the deck a +2/+2 pump makes it worth it. Timely Reinforcements is amazing in the early game for the life advantage and tempo against certain decks. 2 Thoughtseize on the first 2 turns into Timely Reinforcements turn 3 is awesome. Also helps win the fight against burn, elves, merfolk, and affinity.

I've slowly been working on a token deck for my FNMs and I personally think this deck looks very fun. Might swap over to this rather than B/W tokens. I wonder, is there some more alternative way of doing the manabase? More budget friendly, that is.
Also +1~

Infral, hey thanks man! If you want to "budgetize" the landbase, I would start by cutting the fetches. This is gonna lead to inconsistency with fixing the colors, so fill it up with duals. If you want to keep the deck competitive, dont strip it to only basics. A more budget landbase could look like this:
4x Godless Shrine 3x Temple Garden 2x Overgrown Tomb 2x Gavony Township 1x Vault of the Archangel 2x Sunpetal Grove 3x Isolated Chapel 1x Woodland Cemetery 1x Caves of Koilos 2x plains 1x forest 1x swamp
That cuts the landbase down to under $150 while still keeping it competetive. Its definitely not as consistent (meaning color screwing is a possibility), but it is consistent enough to post results. Hope this helps. Cutting 9 fetches out of a deck is def gonna have some backlash, but I wouldn't stress it. Playtest with the deck and landbase so you know what hands to keep and not keep to minimize color screwing and mulliganing (even though both of these are based off total luck, it helps to know your cards). The deck in itself is pretty evenly distributed between colors, but still fairs white as the dominant color, so keep that in mind too.

So Sergal when are we gonna see this at Stomping Ground?
October 20, 2016 10:37 a.m.
theanimetrix, Crawlspace isnt maodern legal, and worship is a decensive card for a proctive, offensive deck. Not the direction i want to be heading, though a pretty interesting suggestion. Thanks man!
hamiam! Thanks man!

very nice deck there! however, I have been comparing against my boring and old-fashioned BW Consistency and I have to say that I still prefer the consistency and total-focus that the BW version offers. I think this version is somehow halfways in both directions and, thus, sees its efficiency affected.
So far, I think I will stay classic. +1 anyway!
PD: I think a Nissa, Voice of Zendikar fits greatly the deck and the mana curve.

diateone, Thanks for your suggestion! Im going to be working her in when I get my hands on a copy.
I have to say though. I disagree with your assessment of both of our decks. I did a little bit of playtesting between our 2 decks (5 game series to be more specific). I won all but one game. Im going to break the reasons that I won down.
Consistency: I know your deck is called B/W consistecy, but without Bitterblossom present at all in your list, it lacks the engine that my deck has. I can, realistically, be putting 2 fliers on the board every turn without casting a spell. I could make that number 4 (because of all 4 copies), but I would never play all 4 at the same time. My deck was easily able to match tempo with your deck because of Bitterblossom. Its really worth the $120 for a playset. I recommend it for you.
Removal: this is where I got you the most. Having Abrupt Decay mainboard makes your Intangible Virtues easy to handle. I also have Maelstrom Pulse mainboard which acts as a sweeper for your spirit tokens. It hits mine too, but I also run Bitterblossom so I was able to still have a better board presence post maelstrom pulsing.
These were the 2 biggest reasons. In no way am I saying that your deck is bad. Its a really good deck. It is really similar to the 2015 modern event deck (which can easily post results at FNM).
I, also, wouldn't say the efficiency of my deck is affected at all by the blend of both strategies. All of the cards that I added green for greatly impact the strategy of the deck, but not the efficiency. They are very synergistic, open the door for better removal, and in my opinion, add consistency to the deck.
Thanks for your feedback tho man! I upvoted your deck!

Sergal I won 3-0 in my testing, however. It seems each one pilots the best its own deck... ;)
October 26, 2016 1:23 p.m.
diateone, I guess so man. 3-0 sounds a bit steep, but I will take your word for it. Take care man!
October 26, 2016 4:47 p.m.
Hey diateone! What did you use to playtest our decks against each other? If it was MTGO or Untap.in, I would love an opportunity to play against someone from this site. Any interest?
October 26, 2016 6:26 p.m.
I actually enjoy the blend of the two strategies. I would be curious how your match ups are against the tier 1 decks of the format play out though.
Would you consider running collective brutality in this list? Is there other considerations other than hero of bladehold?
November 8, 2016 2:48 a.m.
I agree with Apakakuta here, have you actually played this deck against any if the tiered decks in the format? If so what are good and bad matchups.
Anyways, sweet brew!
December 6, 2016 10:30 a.m.
Hey Apakakuta and TeamSDBags. Sure, I will go over matchups! I've played the deck extensively against A LOT of meta. Here goes!
Jund: How's the June matchup? Its' s about 50/50. It really comes down to who draws the best. We both have optimal removal and threats along with disruption.
TitanShift: Not good. Combo is not your friend with this deck. We don't really have any ways to interact with spell casting, so non-creature based combos like Scapeshift + Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle Will wreck us.
Skred Red: Bad. This deck is showing up more and more at my LGS because of the recent win at GP Dallas. I lose to it frequently. It's just... It's just... ehhh
Tron: another 50/50. It depends on how much removal I have for the first couple turns. This deck can out grind from if it gets played right. Definitely not a favorable matchup, but not unwinnable.
Burn: This is my best matchup. You just win frequently. I'd say it is 70/30 even on a Milligan to 6. This deck has lifegain options in the main deck and removal to out temp burn. The matchup just gets better post-board too because they generally won't have options to handle us other than maybe Skullcrack.
Affinity: This is another very favorable matchup. Lingering Souls does work against affinity. Plus Stony Silence out of the board is hard for affinity to play around when battling fliers. They just lose.
Elves/ Merfolk: Decent matchup but more in our favor. They play like slower but harder to manage affinity decks. They want lots of things fast and have a lot of synergy, but generally I find myself out grinding these decks. We have too many "creatures" for blocking and trading, and definitely better removal.
Hope all of this helps guys. This is just my analysis of the majority of the meta at my LGS.

That is all well and good but what about the fallowing:
Dredge?
Infect?
Abzan?
Knight fall?
Ad Nauseam?
Delver ?
Sun and Moon?
Blue moon?
Grixes control?
Jeskai Nahiri?
Mardu Nahiri?
Lantern?
Hatebear/ death and taxes variants?
Remember modern is very very broad and there is a lot to consider I've even not even went into the lesser tier decks either.
You have:boggles StompyGoblins Kuldotha Mono black Soul sisters And on and on....
So what I am saying is if you are a slower reactive deck you have a lot you need to be ready for so you need to ensure what you are doing has bearing against the field.
If you are a linear strategy run the gauntlet of speed test burn affinity infect if you fair well against those 3 you'll do alright.

bitter blossom and lingering souls is awesome. great deck.

So wouldn't you usually miss out on the token side to Timely Reinforcements most of the time? And if you're attacking with all the tokens, they'll have less health too right? So why not just replace that with the expertise? If not I'd just cut a Sorin for your last 4-drop slot.
I also might inquire about the exclusion of certain other walkers like the other W/B Sorin or the flip version of Garruk (these are just the main 2 btw). I know there's not exactly much space for more, but I just wonder then why you seem to settle for Sorin, Solemn Visitor over any others.
Lastly, have you ever considered Golgari Charm? Personally I could only see it replacing Zealous Persecution, but that means the loss of an anthem effect for utility, and I'm not sure if that is a fair trade.

You'll also want 4x Fatal Push because that's the new Lightning Bolt
January 4, 2017 3:20 p.m.
TheRedGoat, this deck used to play 3 of Thoughtseize and 2 main deck Painful Truths so at the time, Timely Reinforcements was phenomenal main deck. Just for the sheer lifegain but also the potential tempo advantage. The deck is seriously getting a makeover thanks to SEVERAL seriously strong recent printings. Stay tuned because I am about to start the "Post aether revolt upgrades". I am gonna preorder all of them. I'm updating the decklist.
As far as Sorin goes, Sorin, Solemn Visitor is by far the best option. He comes down and either battlecrys my whole team (which could easily be 4 creatures) and gains me a buttload of life or if things aren't going well, he offers us another body for protection, potential lifegain, and a potential win condition. He also comes down earlier which puts him much farther in the lead. Thanks for that question man! I do totally see potential for a Grim Nemesis based control deck somewhere in the future of modern.
rcrimmins definitely dude. I should have added that to my other update!

Would a Creakwood Liege be a good idea for Modern? My best modern deck is either Elfball or a mono-white soul sisters build, so I don't really know how best to deal with this kind of deck, but the GB liege seems good here, especially for the token generation it gives.
