If you're running RW you might want to try Chained to the Rocks , at least as a sideboard option. It gives you outs to cards like Master of Waves which can be an absolute pain to deal with. Good luck

Serac: Yeah that was something I had considered and had actually considered running it in place of the gods.

I would also suggest trying out Warleader's Helix in place of the Skullcracks or shocks.

Serac: I had also looked at Warleader's Helix but removing the quickness of the shock and skullcrack just made the deck a fair bit slower, and skull crack i tend to use to negate a large lifelink swing or something similar. Especially if I had guttersnipe in my hand with shock, 4 mana meant that I could play gutter and shock in the same turn. The deck has to be fast as prolonging the game results in the opponent slowly getting more advantage. at least this seemed to be the case with my playtests anyway.

The new Magma Spray in JOU eliminates the need for Shock

pbarrick94 unfortunately not, shock still allows a straight 2 damage to opponent (unless there's something im missing). A lot of the time the quick Shock can be what's needed to change the game. A similar reason to why I don't mainboard Searing Blood . I just kept running into situations where there wasn't a creature I could kill with 2 damage to make it worth it. I have kept in side board for the weeny decks though. But thanks for looking a +1 would be great if you like the deck. :)

Understandable and definitely a +1, Standard burn is so limited, so anyone who at least tries, good for then, I put my own twist on burn with a boros devotion deck. Cards like Boros Reckoner , Burning-Tree Emissary , and Frostburn Weird build up devotion and then slap down Fanatic of Mogis , Purphoros, God of the Forge , Spawn of Thraxes , and Legion's Initiative ... Well, even if you have a great lifegain deck that is a game winner

Looks cool and +1, I might add 1 card to the sideboard though xD

theonyc: what would that be? Curious :)

theonyc: also an upvote+1 would be awesome ;-)

mostly just a warning that you only had 14 cards, and might place a card you use alot (or assemble the legion, cause that card is fun)

theonyc: Right yes, I was unsure about what to place there, currently I just run 4 searing bloods. However Im tweaking it as I play and flesh out my weaknesses.

Why no Sacred Foundry ?

May 5, 2014 5:11 p.m.

Sabba88 says... #14

Antimage just a matter of cost vs its use in this deck.during play tests I found that three mana was enough to play okay, and wasnt drawing the temple enough as my second/third card to worry about it. Drawing it on my first turn/opening hand isn't an issue as most of my cards require two mana anyway. apart from Shock and Chained to the Rocks which both arnt greatly needed first turn. I would like them, but it came down to cost of card. Thanks though.

Sabba88 i would main a playset ot at least 3 of Warleader's Helix this is just another for to deal damage while staying alive, is an instant and works well as a removal too, while gaining live i just feel this is a must on this kind of deck and not to mention if you ever get to do Chandra, Pyromaster ultimate, nice deck thou

Ruric: Hey you're not the first to suggest the Warleader's Helix . i just couldnt find a place for it within the deck. What would you replace given the chance, i considered the Spark Trooper . But he hits harder, has trample and Lifelink... for the same mana. Just not an instant. Still would Consider it though. Had also considered dropping the Skullcrack for it. along with one of the Chained to the Rocks .

So again, Opinions of others greatly apprciated.Thanks.

Sabba88 i got a deck online like this but uses 4 Chained to the Rocks

4 Warleader's Helix

4 Spark Trooper and the phoenix being the only creatures

IMO:

-2 Skullcrack 4 of in SB

-1 Chandra's Phoenix 3 is good enough still as they are recurrent creatures for me is either this or -1 reckoner up to you

+3 Warleader's Helix

May 6, 2014 1:34 p.m.

andrehziinhu says... #19

I'm not sure 3x Chandras are good. one is enough. I would prefer play 2x purforos instead.

I say this because Chandra will deal 1 damage or draw you a card, but its not worth 4 mana in a burn deck.

Parth7 says... #20

Nice deck. -1 Chandra, maybe?

May 8, 2014 5:12 p.m.

Sabba88 says... #21

andrehziinhu and Parth7: Yes The exact conclusion I had come to while playtesting recently.

The Phoenix I had also come to the same conclusion of removing 1 and going for the Warleader's Helix and Spark Trooper while also removing Boros Reckoner . He was too expensive and not aggressive enough.

What do you think about Satyr Firedancer ? You can just throw everything at the face instead of worrying about dividing damage between the creatures and the player. This would also give you the much better option of running skullcrack in the main over lightning bolt. I think you will find a lot of stuff in game 1 that will just wreck you with lifegain (gray merchant, sphinx' rev, etc.)

andrehziinhu says... #23

sorry to quote you drenardy. but I played Satyr Firedancer mainboarded in my deck and it doesn't work. he's good to kill stormbreath dragon tho. because you can Boros Charm your opponent and actually deal damage to the dragon which is white protected, so its a good sideboard I may say... I didn't list it before. but here's my Boros Burn deck the way it is today:

Angry Willing

I'm not saying this is the best build possible ever. but I've done well in FNMs. its easy win against esper control. but its hard to deal with monoblack. thats why Assemble the Legion is in sideboard actually

I actually found the same with Satyr Firedancer in theory its great, but in reality it rarely plays well. I see you arn't running Guttersnipe I tried removing this from my deck but found that it would weaken it a fair bit. I had the opposite issue with Searing Blood and found that if they didnt have any weenies out I just had a card in my hand with no real use...

Skullcrack i find amazing but I cant really choose anything to pull out of my deck for it. Young Pyromancer provides a good amount of chump blocking I find.

I have yet however had chance to FNM it so will tell you after next week most likely.

I saw your Stormbreath Dragon version of this deck andrehziinhu

Ive found that usually most players tend not to have many cards in hand by the time you can monsterous it.

Thanks for the comments. Ill +1 your deck as well.

andrehziinhu says... #25

Yea, I just have it because its a 4/4 fly haste that sometimes becomes 7/7. not because of the Monsterous if you feel me :)
