I like your build a lot, I do have a couple suggestions though. I've played Skred A LOT and have won Modern events with it more than it probably should honestly. What I have found is that most people don't know how to play around the deck the first couple games, or even at all. The core is pretty much smack on, I run three Boros Reckoner, two Stormbreath Dragons, two Wurmcoil Engines, and two Solemn Simulacrum as the creatures in the deck. I have found that Batterskull does almost nothing for me, Stormbreath Dragon is generally better for finishing grind games. I also run only a single Chandra, Pyromaster and an Ugin, the Spirit Dragon, who wins games by himself sometimes. I also have one Banefire and a single Dismember in place of both the Roasts. Hopefully this will be food for thought, I have no idea what your meta is like, hopefully you like the deck though!

@demagicman, After playing FNM last week with this current build, I've been doing lots of testing. The cards I didn't like were Batterskull and Chandra, Pyromaster. I've been looking into adding the cards I have in the maybeboard, and switching out the Thundermaw Hellkites for Stormbreath Dragons and possibly cutting the Wurmcoil Engines and Solemn Simulacrums. I'll have more updates after wednesday this week, so I'll let you know how my testing goes!

One more thing @demagicman, have you tested using Coldsteel Heart at all?

RocketGauntlet I have not tested Coldsteel Heart at all. I just can not find room for it in my list and I've generally found that I have plenty of snow permanents for my Skreds. I personally think Mind Stone is better just because it is a mono colored deck so Coldsteel Heart is just acting like a slow Snow-Covered Mountain in this case. And there is a point when you will want to cantrip off of the Mind Stone.

I really like this list, but I might actually put you should seriously consider putting in the outpost sieges of the maybeboard. I feel like relic of progenistus shouldn't be a 4 of in main because you can get extra value out of Chromatic Star as graveyard strats aren't really tier 1 in modern right now (Unless that's a meta call for you).

@Ninjadude51 Outpost siege works almost the same as chandra, but is harder to remove. The only problem with it is that if my opponent boards in bloodmoon hate, it hits the siege too. I'll test 1 or 2 instead of chandra, but I think chandra is just the better option. Also, my meta is filled with grixis type decks that get a lot of value off of the graveyard, and also some goryo's veangance and storm decks, so I think I'll keep the relics in.

Coldsteel Heart feels to me to be worse then the MindStone in a mono color deck. However if it is consistent mana ramp you are looking for Braid of Fire simply cannot be beat. Add 1 red to manna pool each upkeep for how many upkeeps its been there. Unless that card is banned in modern, which it very well could be. I'd say Braid of Fire should replace Solemn Simulacrum.

trogdor101 The mana from Braid of Fire empties after you draw for turn though, it can only be used for instants or creatures with flash, etc. or else it would be an auto include.

damn RocketGauntlet that's saddening. Hmm well, I suppose my only other suggestion is perhaps more creatures. I know your going for a burn/control sort of thing but its always nice to have blockers/attackers in both. Maybe Monastery Swiftspear or Eidolon of the Great Revel. Also for a dragon that fits the snow control thing Rimescale Dragon is pretty rad. By no means do I think you should run it in your deck due to it's massive mana cost but its worth a thought.

Just got my first 4-0 playing a modern tournament with this deck! I also completed my playset of blood moons.

I'm considering switching the Roasts with 2 Dismembers, any thoughts?

Hey RocketGauntlet, I like switching Roasts for Dismembers. Dismember might hurt more, but it generally will save you when you really need it to. Dismember hits at instant speed and hits everything, even those pesky pro red guys. It can even kill indestructible things, because that happens so much in modern ;)

I'm also considering moving the 4th Blood Moon to the mainboard and putting a Relic of Progenitus in the side.

Im not sure i like Roast in the main. and even then combust and rending volley seem better. In my list i personally run 1-2 pyrite spellbombs depending on how i feel at the time. The two sowing salt two molten rain seem like over kill even though trons and shaky matchup and so is bloom, but i do like salt in decks that run mindstones. Other then that stuff i like the deck... even though i personally like 4 boros reckoners. he is a pretty great all star. anything that makes wurmcoils afraid of attacking is okay with me

I might split the Simians and the Stones (2 Stones / 1 Spirit guide)

September 3, 2015 11:10 p.m.

Maringam, I'll try it, but I think I'd prefer to have one or the other consistantly.

deck changed pretty majorily after modern tonight, Mind Stones switched for Simian Spirit Guides, and the sideboard was changed as well, adding 2 Magus of the Moon
