Creature (2)

Land (1)

Insect tribal brew! Insect synergy with Grist, the Hunger Tide , Cavern of Souls , Izoni, Thousand-Eyed , and Swarmyard .

This deck is mainly about taking advantage of the large amount of creatures and creature tokens produced by sacrificing them for value. It is hard for the opponent to stop us because Cavern of Souls and Swarmyard will negate a lot of interaction and we can also Liliana of the Veil and Thoughtseize the opponent's hand to take their best cards for dealing with us.

So, what are we doing exactly? Mainly we will be sacrificing creatures for value and also keeping the board clear from creatures the opponent is playing so we can attack for damage.

For sacrifice value, Grist, the Hunger Tide can kill most anything for the low cost of sacrificing one of your own creatures. Additionally, Unyaro Bees is a fairly flexible card that we can sacrifice and Village Rites gives us card draw. Also, everything we sacrifice puts cards in the graveyard for Izoni, Thousand-Eyed and also grows Mortician Beetle .

To win the game we will use a plethora of removal, notably Abrupt Decay , Liliana's Triumph , and planeswalkers, to pave the way for our insects. Mortician Beetle , Nantuko Shade , and Scute Mob all have potential to deal good combat damage.

Interesting cards in the sideboard are Caustic Caterpillar , which grows Mortician Beetle and destroys artifacts/enchantments and Hex Parasite that can deal with modular and Hardened Scales decks. If the opponent is playing all removal spells then Vorapede is really good and then Kraul Harpooner can kill flying creatures for free like Birds of Paradise .

Unfortunately, the deck is pretty casual because there aren't very many strong insects. Hornet Nest and Nantuko Shade are pretty meh and Realmwalker isn't even an insect type. Hornet Nest is better than it looks though because the opponent really doesn't want to attack into it to get to your planeswalkers and you can also regenerate it Swarmyard after it takes damage and makes tokens. But mainly we include these cards because really the deck needs another 1 or 2 great insect creatures. Hoping to be able to update it in the future with better cards!
