A much-needed upgrade to my Sydri, Galvanic Genius deck!

The problem with the original is that it didn't have a clear wincon; it was just reducing, reusing, and recycling to no real end. This more optimized version makes an effort to get a combo on the field while still being budget friendly. I present: Junkyard!

The easiest infinite combo to assemble involves your commander Sharuum the Hegemon in conjunction with a clone effect such as Sculpting Steel, Phyrexian Metamorph, or Mirror Image to allow for infinite nontoken artifact creature ETB/ETG triggers. This effect is achieved by having a clone enter as a copy of Sharuum the Hegemon and then moving all but one to the graveyard via the legend rule as a state-based action (choosing to leave your commander in the graveyard if that is the copy you chose). The "sacrifice" occurs before the ETB trigger goes on the stack. Once it does, you can choose your commander or the clone (if it's an artifact) as the recursion target, which repeats the process. Note: you can alternate which card is sent to the graveyard if both are artifacts, or in the case of Mirror Image, you can repeatedly allow your commander to hit the 'yard and let her trigger recur herself... which all seems kind of like cheating, but it is very much legal! This can be abused in several ways: Disciple of the Vault, Marionette Master, and Zulaport Cutthroat see the death trigger and drain your opponents infinitely. Genesis Chamber will produce an infinite number of Myr tokens. Dross Scorpion in conjunction with any mana rock or artifact land will produce infinite mana.

Infinite mana can also be generated via Grand Architect+Pili-Pala. This is useful for several outlets, including but not limited to Ethersworn Adjudicator and Golem Artisan. With infinite mana, there are ways to get creative with sacrifice outlets. For instance, Sai, Master Thopterist allows you to draw your library by casting Sharuum the Hegemon from the command zone and sacrificing her and the subsequent thopter. Sacrificing Spine of Ish Sah to Thopter Foundry will destroy all opponents' permanents. Thopter Foundry+Sword of the Meek lets you pour mana into making blue thopters and life for 1 mana per activation (goes infinite with just Grand Architect).

Time Sieve can be activated perpetually using Thopter Assembly, but it can also be done by reaching a critical mass of thopters via Sharding Sphinx or via Thopter Foundry+Sword of the Meek.

You will likely need tutors to assemble the most convenient combo. Tamiyo's Journal (accented by Confirm Suspicions) is a slow but worthy enough catch-all that finds high cmc pieces and nonartifacts. Tribute Mage finds Thopter Foundry, Sword of the Meek, Pili-Pala, Genesis Chamber, and Time Sieve. Perplex finds Grand Architect, Sculpting Steel, and Tribute Mage in a pinch, while also functioning as a nasty (but ultimately ineffective) counterspell. Whir of Invention... is there, too.

The deck is stocked with counterspells and hexproof/ward effects, and your commander can bring back artifacts from the graveyard. The deck can also tax your opponents out of interaction with God-Pharaoh Statue and Lodestone Golem. You should have a decent cushion to assemble combos uninterrupted.

A few other hidden all-stars: Sydri, Galvanic Genius can unattach equipment by turning it into a creature (those boots were made for walking, am I right?). She also turns Staff of Nin into a death ray, as well as any old thopter into a secret assassin. Especially nice with Bronze Guardian. Shimmer Dragon will almost always have a decent supply of artifacts to tap on the end step preceding your turn, and even gives itself hexproof. Midnight Clock has completely refilled my hand at the perfect moment more times than I deserve. The only downside to this amazing rock is that it shuffles your graveyard out of your commander's reach.

This deck, while only about $120, is built like a cEDH deck. I'd call it budget optimized. Drawing your library with infinite mana is a fairly common way to pull a win. I'm not sure it has the $$$ oomph to contend with real cEDH decks, but I'm hoping it will at least put on a good show should the occasion arise.

Good luck!
