A good card to help deal with both pod and delver would be Anger of the Gods , but that might mess with your plan too much. Other options would be Magma Spray as it both kills a flipped delver and helps greatly in the pod matchup, and Gut Shot to get rid of unflipped delvers, annoying snapcasters, and any of the mana dorks that pod plays.

Yeah I run Anger of the Gods in the sb usually and it does the trick! I think my main problem is not being able to finish I can lock out damn near anyone (except delver) but no reliable heavy damage they seem to be able to stabilize after a while. What's your thoughts on Koth of the Hammer or Detritivore

What about Sowing Salt , if you run into a tron deck you kinda make them cry.

For cards that can help against those three decks that you mentioned in the forums, have you considered Pyroclasm ? It does a number on early delver, and is cheaper than anger of the gods. Also can hit affinity pretty hard, and burn too. If getting countered is the issue, then you should consider Volcanic Fallout as a substitute.

Other options you could include are Chalice of the Void for 1 to neuter half of delvers deck list and half of burn, You could also use Ratchet Bomb , though it would be much slower, maybe too slow? And lastly, Engineered Explosives could be an option.

nemesis101 wow thank you those are some awesome cards! I hadn't even thought of any of them! Chalice of the Void is great!! Gonna make delver and burn flip the table!

haha, sorry it took me while to respond vomdur, i didn't notice you text on my The Ultimate Land Decimator! deck. I am more than happy to say something about a fellow land destroyer's deck xD, oh more than happily...!

So i am going to give you a handfull of cards and some thoughts for you to chew on ey? haha

I have recently took a favoritism for Phyrexian Obliterator . Since you are running a decent amount of black you may want to consider him. phyrex will halt the enemy's attacks, and if they are under stress from lando, they won't have much but little twerps to block with; also they won't have much to sac so phyrex I believe would be a near win upon entry. He is a 5/5 tramp with a lesser eldrazi ability bundled together for 4 mana. pretty good to me lol, but just a thought.

There is Helldozer . he is great lando, it's just that he costs 6 to get out so he is unfortunately way late game. but again, just chucking meat out there for you to chew on.

Also Incendiary Command . Very nice multitasker, lando, damage to enemy, wipes tokens, and can reset hands; though resetting the hand may benefit the enemy moreso than yourself due to the LD, lol.

about your mana base: I suggest replacing a few black producers with red. You only have about 10 blacks with liliana being a double black. But then you have the bulk of your deck red with multiple double red costs like Molten Rain , roiling, and your plainswalker. It may increase your mana consistency if you ever had issues. Though it ain't necessary really. Your mana demand is very simple luckily, unlike mine, lol. Unless you decide to toss in a phyrex or two, then those blacks may be needed.

With as simple as your mana demand is you may want to consider a couple more man-lands like: Ghitu Encampment , Lavaclaw Reaches , and Spawning Pool s. I like Spawning Pool just because of that regenerate. A very nice blocker. Though they come in tapped, they can be mid-late game beat down. I see you already got 3 lavaclaws, maybe like 1 or 2 more other man-lands for variation and quantity me thinks.

I sense your deck may be a bit weak, as far as killing the enemy. unless your control is simply that good, lol. maybe a couple Phyrexian Obliterator s and an extra man-land or two might beef it up a bit.

I do like Koth of the Hammer . I am debating with myself if he is on par with Ajani Vengeant for a land destroy deck. My immediate thought is ajani, though koth gives some muscle to the deck. depends if your deck needs more LD; if so then ajani all the way me thinks.

oh, don't forget about Rain of Tears . If you go a more black intensive direction it would be a decent replacement for Molten Rain . ( you can just have both xD, the more 3 cost lando; the maryer)

So there are my immediate thoughts. In general I like the deck. It is simple so it has fewer weaknesses. Magus of the Moon can wreck a lot of decks and the Inquisition of Kozilek is nice for taking out any low costs at the start. IF you do go more black intensive, I suggest throwing in a handful of Thoughtseize s on top of the inquisitions. Just so you more reliably get them in starting hand.

I like the idea of your deck being a bit more black. you can get phyrex and more discarders. plus, if you can be even more mana easy, you can toss in a few Tectonic Edge s or Encroaching Wastes for added lando.

I love lando xD (fat smile)

Jebus that's a lot to chew on!! I like it! It'll take me a bit to do some testing to see what works! Ill get to work and let you know what I find works and what doesn't!!! Thanks for all the suggestions!

Can I just say that ajani vengeant is mainly just the two abilities in this deck, because, if things are going well, it will only kill one or two lands, and if things arent, you should be using his - ability. I like koth more.

@nickiru spent a bunch of time mulling over your suggestions and trying them out! Biggest problem i have is i cant ever seem to get enough black mana. Running Magus of the Moon locks out a lot of my black mana and makes just having 2 basic swamps for Liliana of the Veil a challenge sometimes. Maybe once i get the B/R fetch land this will go better but for right now im going to have to keep the black light.

The amount of swamps is maybe a bit high but i still have trouble getting the black mana for lili sometimes so definitely gonna have to wait for the B/R fetch land and then try some of these again.

as far as additional man lands are concerned Magus of the Moon seems to shut them off all the time. I've found that he is just too effective at shutting down most other decks for me to get rid of him but he does make my choices a lot slimmer.

I will try some more games with the additional hand hate it is effective just not sure if i have to take out to much land destruction for it. I need to destroy a land every turn from turn 3-8 to ensure i win and getting 5 LD cards was sometimes tough with the additional Thoughtseize .

Tectonic Edge and its like are usually just mountains for me or they can really screw me up being colorless early game when i need the colors.

I love Ajani Vengeant but i cant splash white in here i'd never be able to consistently get a basic plains lol

Incendiary Command has me on the fence i love it but damn that 5 mana is steep sometimes and if i pull this before turn 5 i really dislike it but when i get it late game it does a little bit of everything!!! this may be a new sideboard option

Thanks again for all the suggestions! I am going to keep trying to tweak the deck to make some of them work! I would love to have someone locked down then drop Phyrexian Obliterator and watch them die a little on the inside haha

Magus of the Moon is such a disruptive card, why not play Blood Moon too? Also, Ghost Quarter could be a good option for further mana base disruption since most Modern decks run 1 or 2 basic lands, if that.

Yeah I think I will fit in a couple Blood Moon. Thing is with them searching for a basic is that they can have access to their color they want and I'm the only one allowed to have nice things haha!

Wtf, this would be incredibly infuriating to sit across from.. +1

I'm curious as to how well you do in your tournament..

February 3, 2016 3:02 a.m.

You know with all of that Land Destruction, you could exchange one of those Blood Moons for a Surgical Extraction for extra hate that could also double as mainboard hate against the dreaded GriselCannon & other weird combos..

Thanks! I've had several opponents refuse to shake my hand afterwards and i totally understand haha fun for me terrible for the opponent!

Last time i played it competitively was a few years ago and i went 6-3 pptq! That was when delver and pod were huge so I am very hopeful for right now while tron and eldrazi are big.

Oh yeah i totally forgot about the griselcannon decks that are taking off. good suggestion!

February 3, 2016 3:11 a.m.

Yeah, I'm a Eldrazi player at this point.. So yeahhhhh... Win; lose; or draw; you'd still be getting 'the finger' from me! lol
