It's all good advice, but money is tight and I traded in a lot of my casual decks and other trade stuff in for 4 Tarmogoyf and 4 Force of Will recently and a Stoneforge Mystic , and I pulled the 4th Tarmogoyf out of my ass, nickel and diming my way up to it. It may be a while before I can drop some more money into cards. Tried to trade in for an Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth but the store was out of them. Afraid some of these suggestions will have to wait until March, when I get a few bucks to spare. Really want to make the Phyrexian Obliterator shine too, guess it may be a fool's errand though. I tend to make decks here where I already have the physical cards with things I have to work with.

well if u have the shocks and fetches already, and the goyfs. deck building should have just got a lot cheaper.
at very least, make sure u run some basics. Ghost Quarter is a cheaper Tectonic Edge and sometimes Encroaching Wastes is just better. not that the tec edges r that expensive.
U should drop 1 obliterator, personally I think dropping down to 2 would be just fine. that would give u 2 slots to fill with the other Inquisition of Kozilek MB and the 24th land u should probably run.

Yeah, I see the Breeding Pool and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth as the money cards I need to get. I think I have a few Ghost Quarter and I know I have a playset of Tectonic Edge . I think I will try to go for Treetop Village over Creeping Tar Pit , when I go about getting the cards to update the deck. I was already thinking dropping a Phyrexian Obliterator or two. Currently working on three decks, but this is the one I am putting a lot of effort into. Trying to get my Merfolk deck updated to an acceptable Legacy deck and an equipment deck for Legacy or Modern. My casual decks all took pretty big hits to get this deck to where it is now.

well consider running 3x Snapcaster Mage and 1x Spellskite MB with 1x Spellskite and 2x Scavenging Ooze SB in place of the other 2x Spellskite

Been working to tweak this deck up some for competitive modern. It may need some work but I think it is on its way. If anyone has any further suggestions, I welcome them.

Trying to figure out a way to implement Vendilion Clique MB, considering removing Spell Pierce . I feel like it will fit my strategy more by controlling my opponents hand throughout a match. Another option I am looking at is removing the Scavenging Ooze and Phyrexian Obliterator .

I think this deck would be stronger without the blue :/

I think I will be removing all the counter spells. With Snapcaster Mage allowing me to replay Abrupt Decay , Thoughtseize , Inquisition of Kozilek is useful; even replaying Dismember could be useful too. Vendilion Clique used properly can assist me in various ways with my hand or hopefully ruining my opponents. My friend also keeps suggesting I run Delver of Secrets Flip as well. If i remove the counter spells it leaves me 6 slots which 3 of I want to play Vendilion Clique to see how that works. Also will be taking out the Phyrexian Obliterator which opens up another slot for me leaving 4 slots open which I may place Delver of Secrets Flip in to test it out. Another option is getting a couple Maelstrom Pulse . Since the skeleton of this deck is also the basis for my Legacy JUND deck I didn't want to go JUND for modern, so I went BUG with this build. I could go just Green and Black but for me I'd be losing a part of my magic identity without the Blue.

Delver of Secrets Flip would suck in this deck. U really have to also run a playset of Serum Visions for it to work. Remand is really counter productive to run in BGx simply because it's only good early game and this archtype as a whole is set to grind out games. V Clique and Snappy r okay, they would be much better in a different shell. I would splash white for junk instead. Having access to Lingering Souls is what BGx really needs.
If I ran Junk I would throw in Voice too.

If I already had the things to make Junk I might try it. But, I traded and sold a large portion of my collection to get the decks complete that I have now. I probably am closer to finishing a Delver deck than I am to converting to a Junk deck. My buying days are kind of gone and my trade stock is all but gone now unfortunately. I'll be trying to play at events more so hopefully I can get some wins under my belt with my Legacy decks, Merfok and Jund. With the winnings I might start building up trade stock again, it just took a lot to finish my Legacy Merfolk and Jund decks recently. My modern staples are unfortunately in Blue and Black with some White, very little Green and pretty much no Red. Until I can get more stuff I just mess around with what I already got and tweak it as I can. With the new Khans of Tarkir block I expect to see some things that will compliment this deck more based off the wedges they've announced.

Remove the Vendilion Clique - you have enough discard.Add Slaughter Pact .Add another Tarmogoyf .Remove one Scavenging Ooze .Remove the Wrench Mind for full playsets of Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek - snaps give the value.Add another Snapcaster Mage .Think about adding Remand or Mana Leak .Think about adding one Jace Beleren .

Drop a Watery Grave for a basic Forest so you don't risk having to autoscoop to Blood Moon . This should also straighten out your mana graph a bit.

I'd definitely drop the Downfalls for Maelstrom Pulse
April 30, 2015 1:21 p.m.
You may be making the classic mistake here of mixing a deck that wants to play it its hand on its own turn at sorcery speed (goyf / clique / maelstrom pulse / tasigur) with a control deck that wants to keep mana open for the opponents turn (cryptic command / decay / other control elements).
Mixing these two creates a deck that doesn't really know what it wants to do or when.
My advice would be to streamline and go for one or the other. How about going for a control deck that wants to play at instant speed and therefore only runs like 4 Tarmogoyf as threats along with a tasigur or two and that's it. Then you won't have a mixture of sorcery and instant and it keeps things streamlined and simple.

Well everything does work together creature wise, maybe I could cut some sorcery spells and replace them with more instants, but the only reason Scavenging Ooze is in the deck is actually to assist with Tasigur, the Golden Fang by removing unwanted spells from my graveyard. The other creatures have flash and synergy with the deck as well with Snapcaster Mage. In most games I did not see any mana problems in casting things when I wanted. Perhaps I do drop the Maelstrom Pulse for something instant though and the Serum Visions.
I could maybe drop the Scavenging Ooze for a second Murderous Cut MB, since it does kind of what I want too. I am strongly considering Sage's Dousing so I could add a 3rd Vendilion Clique and a 4th Snapcaster Mage to take advantage of that card fully, and it helps make Tarmogoyf slightly bigger.
So maybe drop Maelstrom Pulse and 2x Scavenging Ooze for 1x Murderous Cut or Go for the Throat 1x Vendilion Clique and 1x Snapcaster Mage. Also, maybe cut out Serum Visions for Sage's Dousing.
May 22, 2015 12:31 p.m.
I believe serum is fine because 1 mana is virtually nothing. Scooze is a concern because 2 is just.... a bit more than 1 haha.
Taz helps with your graveyard himself due to delve so I wouldn't be too concerned there!
May 22, 2015 12:37 p.m.
I like your thinking though - you are getting the idea!

ShermanTank87 says... #24
well maybe drop the scooze for hard counter like Sage's Dousing, which has the potential to draw me a card? I hate 3 drop counters but this one serves 2 purposes it helps grow goyf and will likely provide me a card, maybe two. Actually Snapcaster Mage back a Cryptic Command, this would do the same thing that Cryptic did for 1 less mana.
APPLE01DOJ says... #1
Probably shouldn't run Phyrexian Obliterator and Dark Confidant that's a T1 Dismember to draw a card. U probably don't need 4x Spellskite .
Also, what is the point of 4x Cavern of Souls ? U really only need 2 at most, 1 is fine. More than that is a waste of space. Yes it helps when it comes to casting Phyrexian Obliterator but u should seriously consider wasting ur 3 colorless slots on Tectonic Edge or Twilight Mire .
Less shocks, more manlands. Treetop Village (no more than 2 since ur running obliterator) or Creeping Tar Pit .
Also run enough basic to cast every spell u have off only basics. Blood Moon is a thing and Tectonic Edge + Surgical Extraction /Extirpate will take out a whole color of your deck. which is also Y a single Breeding Pool is advised.
Also, 1x Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth should be mandatory.
