This deck's theme is not based on mechanics, but on flavor. So if you can't think like a Vorthos, then turn back now!

The theme, as you may have guessed, is Phyrexia, both new and old. Their allies are fair game too, so references to the Rathi Stronghold and Mercadia City are welcome in this deck. Cards whose flavor doesn't really reference any particular person, place, or thing, like Murder or Animate Dead can also go in this deck.

Cards that aren't welcome in this deck are ones that directly reference people or organizations that aren't associated with the Phyrexians. (So no Cabal Coffers, sadly.) This goes double for people and orginizations that have directly opposed Phyrexia, like Urza or the Thran. Anything with a Mirran watermark (or any non-Phyrexian watermark, for that matter) isn't allowed, either.

One grey area here is the cards from the original Mirrodin block. As we now know, the Phyrexian oil made its way onto the plane long before the first Mirrodin block started. So Phyrexia's influence was present even during Mirrodin, Darksteel, and Fifth Dawn. As such, I am willing to give the green light to certain cards. Anything related to Geth or Glissa gets a free pass, since those two have since joined the Phyrexians. Many cards with graveyard-related mechanics are okay, as well. Like Skullclamp; that's totally the sort of device a Phyrexian would use.

Fun Fact: This was the first EDH deck I ever made, though its original general was Tsabo Tavoc.
