Skaab Company

Sideboard

Skaab Ruinator is a very good card, and thus far, I don't think any deck has been able to take full advantage of it's strengths. This is mostly due to deck building concessions that must be made when considering running Skaab, those issues being mainly the UU in it's cost and the exile three creatures clause.

Enter Collected Company. I think this is the card that fully allows a shell to exist that Skaab not only makes sense in, but one that allows it to excel.

Clearly the game-plan here is aggro, with the disruption elements meaning to support the game plan but never to supplant it. ALMOST every creature in the deck should require your opponent to eliminate it immediately or quickly begin to fall behind. Turn 1 Hierarch into turn 2 V Clique, Bob, or Finks is nasty and if they stick and you hit into ANYTHING on a turn 3 collected company, the advantage can quickly be too much.

One of the greatest strengths of the deck is it's resiliency because of Skaab or CoCo. Having your board wrathed and immediately recovering with a Skaab or CoCo are what makes the deck so hard to keep down. I've played against some Gifts matches where I've been able to win through 2 Verdicts and a resolved Elesh Norn.

In the late game, basically your top decks will almost always be better. V Cliqueing important cards out late, Goyf, Skaab, or a CoCo and your board presence is back.

I've been able to test so far against Ad Naus, 4c Gifts, RB Blitzkrieg, Zoo, Jund, Junk, Merfolk, and it's been able to hang and out speed or grind with all of them.

Thoughts/comments are greatly appreciated!
