Took 5th tonight. The deck performed about as expected. Took some games in a few turns and others I was able to stall out until a Aqueous Form allowed a 7/7 doublestrike Lagonna-Band Trailblazer scoot around a few hornets nests. I lost a match to a mono red goblins deck that did me no favors mulliganing to 4 cards on the play. It happens. Switching out Fabled Hero for Battle Mastery has so far proven to be a good choice.

I like it a lot. Can be very effective and most people would not expect a sneaky swan song

Swan Song is really relevant in standard! But, obviously not optimal. I'd rather give my opponent a 2/2 flying than let them play a Thassa, God of the Sea or Courser of Kruphix . For some reason when I sideboard that card in I rarely see it in a game, which is kind of a bummer. Luck is not on my side I guess.

I tried an altered version of this deck and i placed third at my local game day and got third thanks for the awesome deck inspiration!

Nice!! If I had a larger collection, to make the deck more competitive I would add Hallowed Fountain , Mizzium Skin , and maybe some Trait Doctoring or Hidden Strings in place of the enchantments. How many people were in your tournament, Ponchobanbatman?

August 9, 2014 10:23 p.m.

I agree that Mizzium Skin would be a good add, but with it rotating out soon I can see why its not in the deck. I know a lot of my friends want to make decks with cards from the RTR block but are deciding not to spend the money and just wait for the Khans to come out so they don't waste their money.

Great deck, I am for sure going to give this one a try!

Thanks. I can't wait to see what cards from khans I can include, hopefully some sweet instants or enchantments can be used.

Here is my question, why is Worldspine Wurm in the sideboard?

August 10, 2014 8:19 p.m.

robotwalle says... #9

You never know when a Worldspine Wurm can come handy. Also makes my opponent laugh when I show them I "side it in".

August 10, 2014 8:21 p.m.

But you have no way to pay for said Worldspine Wurm .

I lost to a deck like this last Friday. My opponent just kept baiting me with Hero of Iroas for removal and somehow got the God's Willing each time. He also ran Phalanx Leader, which really put him over the edge when he got enough creatures.

I'm using Gods Willing to trigger heroic over Brave the Elements . Also, BtE is rotating and this deck is "rotation proof".

And carpwrist, thats what the deck is designed to do, just mulligan to a hand where you can protect your guy and race your opponent on damage. You want at least one protection card in your opening hand or you'll have a bad game.

Just a creature suggestion Fabled Hero I use him in my Selesnya instant speed heroic and his just unbelievably explosive power is something worth considering making a slot for. Also I would suggest Phalanx Leader who is a good two drop who buffs the whole team when targeted.

also sorry I forgot to add this in but Aqueous Form + Fabled Hero would be incredibly threatening and a huge amount unblock-able damage

mangusactor , I had Fabled Hero in here till a few days ago. I replaced his slot with Battle Mastery because I often found myself in the situation where I wish my lower CMC creatures had double strike after I already loaded them up with enchantments. He was also too hard to cast without dying most of the time, because 1WW is hard to cast on 20 lands, while keeping one open for a Gods Willing or Swan Song . Also, Battle Mastery can be a heroic trigger and give double strike for 2 mana with Hero of Iroas out, which will be huge for me.

I still need to playtest this deck a lot, because I find myself making little changes here and there.

What's your take on Hubris ?

August 13, 2014 12:26 p.m.

robotwalle says... #21

I would run Hubris If I didn't already run Swan Song

I think your deck is really great i recently built my brother a very similar deck but with a bit more control. Good work and hope you have good success in the future.
