I like it! Looks quite steady, so +1 from me.

In my humble opinion you have already enough card draw with the 3 Ordeal of Thassa and let's be honest: Daxos of Meletis is a lot more fun to play than Triton Fortune Hunter ! The latter works only in decks that can trigger heroic every turn without 'wasting' precious aura or protection spells (with Hidden Strings , p.e.). And I don't even know if you should play him in the sideboard... against what? Yours looks already fine as it is.

You crafted this deck really accurately and I wish you the best of luck and fun at your next FNM!

Wow, thanks! Its a bit challenging to make a deck that is fun, budget, and rotation friendly. Hopefully it does well next FNM.

Maybe I'm missing the joke here, but how do you cast the Worldspine Wurm ?

robotwalle says... #4

Lol I don't. I just let them see me "side it in" and look at their face, usually its pretty funny to see what they say.

I'm sorry to disturb here, but I have to defend Ephemeral Shields , since I absolutely love this card!

If you should have at least one mana open, you're right, then it's strictly worse than Ajani's Presence , but the fact that you can cast it without any mana makes it absolutely worth playing! I get in lot of situations where I play a creature and the opponent removes it because I'm tapped out. If I should have countered a removal this way, I then get a huge speed advantage because first I played a creature right away, not with having an extra mana open, and second the enemey used mana and wasted a removal spell because he thought I couldn't react.

So I think Ephemeral Shields will nonetheless render a good service .

So long!

Hmm, I haven't thought about it that way. I'll do some more playtesting, and probably keep it in the deck! Thanks

Oh, it's a bluff wurm hahaha I see...

I had a similar deck that I built upon my prerelease deck for BotG. I used Ordeal of Heliod as Main, I believe 10 life helps more in Standard then 2 draws. I could quite often manage to get 20 life in 2 turns by enchanting with two Ordeals.

What do you think of Divine Favor ?

August 1, 2014 3:10 p.m.

robotwalle says... #8

I like the idea of Divine Favor , but it seems like a less specialized Ordeal of Heliod . 10 extra life has won me a lot of games, Id take that over a +2/+4 and 3 life, as weird as that sounds.

And I see what you mean about Ordeal of Heliod it won me a game and helps race other aggro decks :) (although card draw is HUGE too, especially paired with the scry this deck has, I can fish for what I need)

So I have updated the deck and sideboard after playtesting, let me know what you think. 2nd/20 isn't too bad :)

what about banishing light?

August 4, 2014 11:29 p.m.

robotwalle says... #10

Banishing Light is a good card, but I haven't needed any removal in my meta so far. With this deck's evasion I usually can scoot around anything that causes me trouble. It may have use for Kiora, though. I may add it once Khans comes if there's any bigger threats

if you can get some green hexproof cards in there it would make it a lot better

August 6, 2014 4:39 p.m.

robotwalle says... #14

I like hexproof. I used to run naya hexproof in standard, until I made this deck. Trust me when I say this deck is a lot faster than my hexproof deck (because heroic) and more reliable. Being susceptible to removal is bad, but that's just something a pilot of this deck has to play around, being smart about using anti removal cards and not playing all your enchantments on the same creature at once.

I'm wondering about perhaps modifying your list by exchanging Favored Hoplite for Phalanx Leader and including Launch the Fleet to both activate multiple Heroics for cheap and fill up the battlefield. Thoughts?

August 6, 2014 7:49 p.m.

robotwalle says... #16

I actually made a deck centered around Phalanx Leader here: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/the-dreamy-weenie-post-rotation/

The problem in my deck I have here is the I made it with a voltron strategy in mind, so I usually only have one or two creatures out, so that reduces his efficiency. Also, from playtesting with him in an earlier two color deck WW is hard to cast and usually you want to keep a white untapped for defense. Additionally, Favored Hoplite is a great one drop to play aggressively as he kills most other one drops while having a bigger toughness, and threatens to get bigger/invincible at any time.

If you want to try him I would probably take out Fabled Hero and some enchantments for Launch the Fleet

Have you looked at Ephara's Enlightenment ? It's a great reusable Heroic trigger that fits your colors perfectly.

August 8, 2014 11:58 a.m.

robotwalle says... #18

Ephara's Enlightenment would be used in my deck, but i get evasion from Aqueous Form and Stratus Walk , and they both are cheaper and have abilities I like more than Ephara's Enlightenment .

I like it a lot. Can be very effective and most people would not expect a sneaky swan song

August 9, 2014 6:46 p.m.

robotwalle says... #21

Swan Song is really relevant in standard! But, obviously not optimal. I'd rather give my opponent a 2/2 flying than let them play a Thassa, God of the Sea or Courser of Kruphix . For some reason when I sideboard that card in I rarely see it in a game, which is kind of a bummer. Luck is not on my side I guess.

August 9, 2014 7:58 p.m.

I tried an altered version of this deck and i placed third at my local game day and got third thanks for the awesome deck inspiration!

Nice!! If I had a larger collection, to make the deck more competitive I would add Hallowed Fountain , Mizzium Skin , and maybe some Trait Doctoring or Hidden Strings in place of the enchantments. How many people were in your tournament, Ponchobanbatman?

August 9, 2014 10:23 p.m.

I agree that Mizzium Skin would be a good add, but with it rotating out soon I can see why its not in the deck. I know a lot of my friends want to make decks with cards from the RTR block but are deciding not to spend the money and just wait for the Khans to come out so they don't waste their money.

Great deck, I am for sure going to give this one a try!

robotwalle says... #25

Thanks. I can't wait to see what cards from khans I can include, hopefully some sweet instants or enchantments can be used.
