I'm not a fan of Feat of Resistance. It costs too much just for a protect. When you only have 3-4 mana, it cuts that down to 1-2 just to save your creature during your opponents turn. Would rather use 1 mana spells for a deck like this.

Also, have you considered Abzan Falconer for instant flying or Phalanx Leader for mass tokens. Ajani's Presence is also good to help with spells that destroy, and Launch the Fleet can potentially trigger all creatures on the field for some extra tokens. As a last measure you might consider Return to the Ranks if you get board wiped, because all creatures in this deck are 2 mana or less.

On the sideboard, Glare of Heresy for some white control, and Erase for enchantments (courser).

I thank you for your suggestions. However, my deck has been succesful in my meta as is. Ajani's Presence is good, but it doesn't help with those exile effects. The falconer and leader i tried in earlier versions, and they didnt work for me.

Do u consider creatures with heroic have and extra mana cost to Cast the regular cost plus 1 more to lay a spell in case u need to protect it.

I agree with ur choice to cut the Pilgrim. With the amount of Ramblemasters and Mardo type decks running its just to slow epecialy against Marduo warrior decks with chief of the edge they are to fast for Helios's Pilgrim to run in right

Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a white Socery that cost one white and two colorless that read "Search your libary for a Aura card reveal it and put it into your hand, then shuffle your libary.'' Like wouldn't it be awsome if there was a white sorcery spell in standard that did what heliod's Pilgrim did?

Also u may want to consider Pin to the Earth over Singing Bell Strike then it completely stops cards like stormbreath and the Butcher without allowing them to untap them for six mana

Pin to the Earth doesn't tap the creatures, so they can still use them as blockers or use their activated abilities that require tapping. I find Singing Bell Strike to be a little bit better.

Oh right I forgot it only effects its power :p and I guess if they want there creature untapped so badly they pay 6 which won't leave much room left for them to cast spells

+1 great deck list, I'm refining my own version. Have you given any consideration to Fabled Hero

for sideboard: have you wished you had Glare of Heresy sometimes?

November 30, 2014 6:26 p.m.

robotwalle says... #14

I have not had a point where Glare of Heresy was needed. And i used to run Fabled Hero, but the 3 mana cost is killer on 21 lands so i don't run him anymore. Thanks!

You marked this as competitive. Does this really win at FNMs? Especially a red deck wins heavy meta?

November 30, 2014 7:29 p.m.

robotwalle says... #16

Yes it wins. But you have to know how to play it, on a deck by deck basis. Mardu is the worst matchup for this because of Crackling Doom, Butcher of the Horde, and Goblin Rabblemaster. Any midrange or control deck (that isn't mardu) is usually a free win because their removal is too slow to be used efficiently. I usually go 2-1 with this deck. I have won three FNMs with this deck (at three different places). I would assume the RDW deck is the one with swiftspears and such, and this deck is slower than that but has good options against it like Triton Tactics and Ordeal of Heliod. If you want to adjust the mainboard to include more of those and Lagonna-Band Trailblazer that would be how i combat those decks. It takes awhile to learn how to play, but its satisfying to beat abzan midrange and the like consistently.

@robotwalle Thanks for the speedy response and the useful info! Now to buy this decklist...

November 30, 2014 9:24 p.m.

robotwalle says... #18

That shouldn't be too expensive! Flooded Strand is a must if you want to be more competitive, but I never have too many mana problems as is!

I had some rough matches against R/w aggro this last Tuesday, I have 2 mainboard Stubborn Denial and 2 in the sideboard, but added 2 Negates to help bolster against alot of counter and other removal / board wipes that plague the deck often. Battle Mastery works wonderful with Aqueous form. Spectra Ward came in handy alot. With the deck ideally drawing so many cards, is easy to hit land drops early and smack the Ward down for a finisher. I added more Stratus walk to my deck also, the extra draws a are a greater improvement than running a ton of Pilgrims.

robotwalle says... #20

Yeah I feel you. R/W aggro can be a pain. I recently made some of the changes you suggested. Pilgrims are too slow for my new meta and 4 negates are amazing.

December 11, 2014 10:34 p.m.

Solid deck I have a variant of it

December 16, 2014 10:26 a.m.

Oldly enough swan song could be a option with this deck :p

December 16, 2014 10:38 a.m.

lightcarrier says... #23

So the Negates have proven more efficient than Stubborn Denial? Or would 2 of each be a solid option too?

Keep up the good work!

December 16, 2014 10:55 a.m.

robotwalle says... #24

I think so. Negate has saved me many times where Stubborn Denial couldn't. I don't use the denials because the Lagonna-Band Trailblazer and Favored Hoplite can be hard to get to the toughness you need to use ferocious. I don't use Swan Song so i can counter planeswalkers.

If this was back in the day i'd use Dispel and Mizzium Skin but those days are long gone. :(

Lol a card I just discovered for a mabie card for the side board "Void Snare" from the M15 Core set
