Why the off color temples?

They count as swamp and island mana, they're for extra scrying. I could switch those for fetches or basics, it's personal preference really.

I want to know why not run Reality Shift? I think the card does pretty well if your opponent ramps too quickly into a Siege Rhino or Anafenza. Plus, it keeps them from whipping stuff back, and if they have Courser down you know what they are going to Manifest

I think reality shift will see play in u/b after hero's downfall is rotated

I think reality shift will never see play in competitive control decks. It's just straight up bad. Using two cards to deal with one goes completely against what control needs to achieve to win a game: card advantage. Im not going to predict what will happen when downfall rotates out, one thing I'm sure of is that reality shift wont be its replacement.

EssTea i think Reality Shift will see play because it is a cheap way to deal with big threats like a turn 3 Goblin Rabblemaster which gives very good card advantage.

I forgot to mention that it is a way to stall until you get a removal spell

EssTea, if you are looking for consistent scry, why not use Thassa, God of the Sea instead?

My friend played Monastery Siege last night and made Top 8 with his UBC deck. Another friend also made it with his UBC brew... but both lost in the first round of Top 8. I'm feeling like UB may need to become Esper to really break through this block.

I'm starting to consider playing 4 Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver and 1 Liliana Vess mainboard as a win condition. I've seen Brad Nelson play this brew and it played out very well. Also, Crux of Fate won't interfere with them compared to Perilous Vault, so it should be even better. I've played a lot of games with the build I have right now and I did not like Pearl Lake Ancient unless I was playing against another U/B or a very grindy Abzan build. It was always scary waiting for PLA, and a lot of times the wait was too long and I lost...

I'm not sure if that's a good choice. You said to me that you need a win-con that has high inevitability to win, I don't think the planeswalkers have that.. I'm also considering playing 3-4 ashiok (I have a feeling exile is going to be very important) but still keep 1 pearl lake because that guy dodges everything! Also why liliana? You don't need to tutor with 4 dig.. And discarding isn't so good when you're 1 turn away from using ashiok her ult by the time you can play liliana..

I fully support Lily, but only in the sideboard. She is good in a control mirror where every card in their hand counts, or you need to fish for a Pearl Lake, Silumgar, or other win-con

Here's the thing with lili with the 4 ashiok setup. If she's played first her job is to tutor Ashiok and eat the downfall. If played after Ashiok, the opponent probably doesn't have a downfall or he would've used it on Ashiok long ago, with that in mind, it's safe to +1 Liliana and go for the ult.

The problem with these planeswalkers is that they do not protect themselves at all, unlike Elspeth and Sorin who make tokens. Having two planeswalkers makes opponents have to make a choice, so Lili and Ashiok kind of protect one another. How cute :)

I invite you to go check out Brad Nelson playing the ''4 ashiok 1 lili'' on youtube. Just ype U/B control Brad Nelson and you should find it no problem!
