Sideboard

This deck is meant to be an aggressive/midrange deck that can prey upon combo decks and other midrange decks(jund/abzan) by using discard spells into fatties like Reality Smasher. This deck matches up well against Jund and Abzan because their creatures don't block well against ours. Tasigur, the Golden Fang, Siege Rhino, Tarmogoyf, and many other creatures are inferior to Reality Smasher, Blight Herder, and Oblivion Sower. Tarmogoyf is much worse against this deck because 4 mainboard Relic of Progenitus can prevent it from ever becoming a threat. This deck uses Lingering Souls to stop aggressive decks like infect and affinity until they are overrun by the eldrazi or until Lingering Souls can get the job done. Lingering Souls also helps the deck against creature based decks because we can simply chump block until we get a threat on board that gives us the advantage. This deck matches up well against other midrange/control decks by grinding out their card advantage through 4 Inquisition of Kozilek, 1 Thoughtseize, 4 Thought-Knot Seer, and Reality Smasher. Reality Smasher is so good because it can be played early, has haste, can trample over tokens and kill planeswalkers, and forces them to 2 for 1 themselves to get rid of it. Then, Wasteland Strangler provides a 2 for 1 against early game threats that every aggro and midrange decks have. Finally, Blight Herder is great because they can be chained together by sacrificing scions and provide a lot of pressure as early as turn 3. This deck also benefits from splashing white because the sideboard options are so much better against our poorer matchups. Stony Silence destroys affinity, Spellskite is great against boggles, infect, and burn, Flaying Tendrils is great against the abzan combo decks and affinity because it exiles the main combo pieces, Timely Reinforcements and Rest for the Weary are great against the burn matchup because we can get board presence and gain life. Disenchant can help with pesky artifacts like Lantern of Insight or enchantments like Leyline of Sanctity. The Surgical Extractions are used for the tron matchup as well as any combo deck that we need to break.
