+1/+1 counter theme. I've gone through a Selesnya version but felt that I could use better removal and could take advantage of
Indatha Triome
+
Binding the Old Gods
. Looking for help particularly with removal and finishers.
MAINBOARD (sideboard will come later)
I'm going with
Bloodchief's Thirst
as my main spot removal because at 1 mana it allows me to make a very efficient turn 3 play. I have a bunch of important 2 mana creatures, so it's a great follow up on turn 3. Kicking it is a non-issue because it's really easy to hit double black sources by the time I can cast it.
After a bit of playtesting with
Stonecoil Serpent
, I went ahead and added 4 to the deck. I had to drop
Swarm Shambler
for it, but I think it's a good enough trade. The serpent is just very powerful no matter when I draw it and it can still get a lot of value when X=1. I think the manabase is fine, but the serpent having no color identity is also nice in a 3 color deck.
Conclave Mentor
generates tons of value with each other creature in the deck.
Luminarch Aspirant
is the main "curve out" pair with
Conclave Mentor
. Mentor on 2 into
Luminarch Aspirant
+
Stonecoil Serpent
/
Bloodchief's Thirst
on turn 3 is enough to close out some games by itself.
Wildborn Preserver
This card has felt pretty strong in some games. I love it in unison with
Wildwood Scourge
. I think the fact that this gives me access to instant speed interaction is what makes the card for me. I often just use it as a 1-for-1 against aggro, but sometimes it can catch an opponents
Luminarch Aspirant
or something.
Scavenging Ooze
I love getting to play with this card, I'll admit that it's part of what led me to make this deck in the first place. The exile effect has seemed very relevant lately.
Basri's Lieutenant
offers my creatures some removal insurance. Try to use
Luminarch Aspirant
to target +1/+1 counters onto any creatures without any in order to make the most out of the lieutenant. Funny how relevant "protection from multicolored" can be.
The Great Henge
slots into this deck perfectly. With such a huge number of creatures in the deck, you can really pop off if the opponent lets this resolve. It's also not so farfetched to see this cost GG.
Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider
has done really well whenever he hits the board. Crazy combo with
Conclave Mentor
and it totally hoses sagas and planeswalkers. Not sure if it's worth running anymore than 1, but the trample keyword is actually really important.
