Rafiq of the Many
Voltron Enchantments
Main Voltron Strategy
Rafiq of the Many serves as the general of this deck. Enchant him with multiple enchantments and swing in for commander damage.
Voltron Enchantments
- Rancor: provides Rafiq with much needed trample and is able to be repeated with its “return to hand” ability.
- Favor of the Overbeing: With Rafiq being GWU, we get +2/+2, vigilance and flying from the Overbeing of Myths
- Shield of the Oversoul: The Oversoul of Dusk gives us +2/+2, indestructible and flying.
- Steel of the Godhead: And finally the Godhead of Awe gives us +2/+2, lifelink, and unblockable
- Snake Umbra: Umbra’s are a great way to provide for both protection with Totem Armor and a boost. +1/+1 and card draw.
- Bear Umbra: Totem Armor, +2/+2 and ramp.
- Octopus Umbra: Totem Armor, base power 8/8, and a tap down effect.
- Staggering Insight: Lifelink, +1/+1 and card draw.
- Spectra Ward: +2/+2 and protection from all colors. Play AFTER you have attached other enchantment auras.
- Eldrazi Conscription: The mach-daddy of auras. Major finisher with +10/+10, trample and annihilator 2.
- Kestia, the Cultivator: Around mostly for the card draw, but has the ability to pump Rafiq by +4/+4
Exalted
Exalted serves as another boost within the deck to power up Rafiq.
- Finest Hour: For the extra combat and exalted boost.
- Qasali Pridemage: Also serves as great removal for pesky artifacts and enchantments.
- Sublime Archangel: Exalted itself and gives other creatures exalted.
- Battlegrace Angel: Exalted and gives lifelink.
- Sovereigns of Lost Alara: Exalted and a great tutor.
- Cathedral of War: Slap exalted on a land, why not?
Other Boosts
- Archetype of Imagination: Provides evasion to get around pesky blockers and clears the skys.
- Mirari's Wake: Static +1/+1 and ramp.
- Heliod, God of the Sun: Mainly here for the Vigilance, but also provides blockers when Rafiq is tapped out.
- Nylea, God of the Hunt: Much needed Trample to help get commander damage through. Can also pump Rafiq and extra +2/+2 and with his double-strike, comes in at +4/+4.
- Thassa, God of the Sea: The scry 1 is nice, but the real reason for Thassa is the ability to grant unblockable.
- Leyline of Anticipation: This card is just great for speeding up our gameplay and supporting the enchantress strategy.
Fuel the Voltron Strategy
Enchantress is the secondary strategy of the deck. Need to draw cards and ramp to get Rafiq out and power him up!
Card Draw
- Sythis, Harvest's Hand: Probably the best enchantress printed to date. Draws so many cards.
- Eidolon of Blossoms: Standard in enchantress decks.
- Enchantress's Presence: Another standard in enchantress decks.
- Setessan Champion: Powers itself up as a strong blocker/attacker in addition to drawing cards.
- Kestia, the Cultivator: Also provides a pump with its card draw.
- Snake Umbra: Same as Kestia.
- Staggering Insight: Same as Kestia and Snake Umbra.
- Rhystic Study: Does this deck have blue in it? Yes… yes it does.
- Kenrith's Transformation: The card draw is a bonus to its removal ability.
- Abundant Growth: More here for the ramp, but the extra card is nice.
Ramp
Enchantment based ramp is preferred over land tutors, mana dorks, and mana rocks.
- Abundant Growth: Draws a card and fixes.
- Wild Growth: Ramps every turn for only one? Yes!
- Fertile Ground: Replacement for Rampant Growth.
- Overgrowth: Replacement for Cultivate
- Land Tax: Is this a white deck that needs lands? Yes… yes it is.
- Bear Umbra: Does real work and supports the enchantment strategy.
- Mirari's Wake: The best ramp card in GW
- Sanctum Weaver: Gaea's Cradle for enchantment decks on a creature?
- Nyxbloom Ancient: Is an enchantment creature as well as a mana tripler.
Tutors
- Enlightened Tutor: The best enchantment tutor.
- Idyllic Tutor: the second best enchantment tutor.
- Open the Armory: Great for getting those auras you need.
- Sovereigns of Lost Alara: This card does work. Able to get a new aurora every turn just about.
- Sterling Grove: And another tutor with some versatility.
Protection for our Enchantments & Creatures
- Swiftfoot Boots: No Lightning Greaves here. We need the hexproof, not the shroud.
- Greater Auramancy: Can sometimes get in the way, but great overall protection. Play carefully.
- Sterling Grove: The tutor on it really helps.
- Privileged Position: The better Greater Auramancy, but costs 2.5 more.
- Spectra Ward: Protection from all colors. Similar to Greater Auramancy. Play after you have enchanted Rafiq a lot.
- Snake Umbra: Totem Armor
- Bear Umbra: Totem Armor
- Octopus Umbra: Totem Armor
- Heroic Intervention: Just in case the enchantment protection doesn’t work.
- Mother of Runes: Redundant protection.
- Aegis of the Gods: What about me?
- Sigarda, Host of Herons: Great against edict effect.
Stax Pieces
Stax is a great way to keep others off of our back. Only a few stax pieces really help us out though.
- Dueling Grounds: Since we are voltron, only attacking with one creature is desirable.
- Stoic Angel: Similar to Dueling Grounds, we can attack with only one creature per turn and be fine.
- Archetype of Imagination: Clear the sky’s of those pesky flyers.
Removal
Get other creatures out of our way so Rafiq can get in for commander damage. Enchantment based removal is used where possible.
- Kenrith's Transformation: Gets rid of a pesky creature and replaces itself.
- Seal of Cleansing: Can pop this whenever. While it’s on the board, it supports the enchantress strategy.
- Eldrazi Conscription: Annihilator 2… yeah… so scary.
- Path to Exile: The best single target removal there is.
- Swords to Plowshares: Path to Exile’s cousin.
- Beast Within: The OG green removal.
- Generous Gift: Beast Within’s cousin.
- Qasali Pridemage: Gets rid of those pesky enchantments and artifacts. And serves as a help for exalted.
- Winds of Rath: Doesn’t hit Rafiq when I don’t want it to.
- Cyclonic Rift: The best board wipe ever printed.
A lot of recursion is needed to get those auras back if they are removed or Rafiq is returned to the commander zone.
Recursion
- Hall of Heliod's Generosity: Gets back every enchantment I need from turn to turn.
- Wheel of Sun and Moon: Can be played on myself to stop enchantments from going to the yard OR can hose graveyard strategies.
- Bruna, Light of Alabaster: Secondary general with her ability to bring back all enchantment auras and attach them to her.
- Sun Titan: Most of the enchantments in this deck are 3 CMC or less.
- Regrowth: When we are in a pinch.
- Bala Ged Recovery : Pretty much a standard in ALL decks with green nowadays.
Bruna, Light of Alabaster serves as a secondary general if Rafiq has too high of a commander tax on it. When all else fails, one infinite combo exists in the deck as an alternate wincon.
Have Siona, Captain of the Pyleas in play and attach Shielded by Faith to her. This will create a Human Soldier 1/1 W, which you can then attach Shielded by Faith to it. Repete to have infinite tokens. Swing and defeat all enemies.
