I might take out seraph of the masses (too much mana for only 22 land and 13 creatures)and obelisk of urd (similar problem, plus none of you creatures share a subtype) and put in 4 Dictate of Kruphix . and then you need a better win condition, maybe a few Prognostic Sphinx

freyhackbarth

it's for Chasm Skulker

The deck is a bit dependant on that card though... Almost want to put in a chord but thats too expensive to cast.

freyhackbarth says... #3

so the whole purpose is to get a 7/7 chasm skulker, hope it gets heros downfall-ed and swing with 6 3/3s?

July 21, 2014 2:39 p.m.

Mister_H says... #4

Well they either get hit by a unblockable chasm or they kill it and get stomped by 3/3's

That's my plan anyways, control/Ensoul Artifact early game, stomp with chasm mid, and either finish with convoke bombs and 1/1's or just a huge chasm

July 21, 2014 2:47 p.m.

freyhackbarth says... #5

what if they kill chasm skulker when its a 1/1, or Banishing Light it or Slaughter Games it or Chained to the Rocks it or Detention Sphere it or Silence the Believers it or Pacifism it or Cyclonic Rift it or counter it or Bile Blight the tokens or Detention Sphere the tokens or hit the tokens with any mass removal?

July 21, 2014 4:31 p.m.

Mister_H says... #6

that's true, however I do have a good amount of high priority targets early on, mainly ensoul

I do definitely want to change it up, the deck does rely on chasm a bit too much

Junk is white, green, black... Bant is Green, Blue, White.

I would love Life's Legacy In here. A sac outlet for Chasm Skulker , pumps other Chasm Skulker s, and gives you lots of cards. I would run it 4 of.

Ensoul Artifact has no theme in this deck.

July 21, 2014 5:30 p.m.

Mister_H says... #8

It used to be junk, I should probably fix that haha

Ensoul is there just because it's freakin strong and helps with my early game. Id be fine with replacing it but I just don't know with what yet.

Love Life's Legacy tho

Divination on the turn after you cast Chasm Skulker pushes him all the way to a 4/4 on the first turn you can attack with him, not to mention that it's an extremely effecient draw spell.

July 28, 2014 12:43 p.m.

Replace Annul with Dissolve . It's just better

July 28, 2014 6:32 p.m.

And Negate for those control match-ups

July 28, 2014 6:33 p.m.

Mister_H says... #12

@StanleyHartman

Divination added, don't know why I forgot about this card haha

@ManiacMike0643

Negate added to sideboard, I already have Dissolve in the mainboard and I think Annul has its uses.

Thanks for the feedback!

You don't need 4x revokers or 4x annul in your SB. There are other holes that can be filled there. I know you're thinking post ravnica, but something like Simic Charm would be really good in the sideboard. Other suggestions for your sideboard:
- Warriors' Lesson could be great for extra card advantage, especially if you're getting a lot of islandwalk squiddies against a blue player

-Setessan Tactics is a pretty great removal spell in green. Something like Time to Feed would also be good here.

-Witchstalker can be a great creature if they're playing a lot of removal, as he grows over time and has hexproof. He can be a great target for Life's Legacy if your opponent is killing your Hero of Leina Tower s.

-Aetherspouts is an awesome control card, and can buy you a lot of time.

I think a lot of these spells could possibly be viable in the mainboard as well. I don't know if you need 4x Void Snare . It's good, but sometimes you need answers at instant speed.

Overall, I love this deck. I love the synergy you've got going on, and I think this can be pretty competitive.

I'm also playing a G/U standard deck! Check it out and let me know what you think :)Simic Constellation: Strength from the Riptide

@Mojangles

Thanks for the comment! Just a tad too late because I just ordered the deck haha

That being said there is always room for improvement!

  • Warriors' Lesson I like, Almost worth mainboarding... Ill buy a playset once I get a few test runs with the deck as is.

  • Setessan Tactics Been debating adding this for a while now, I don't think it belongs in the SB but ill test it for the mainboard.

  • Witchstalker I really love but M14 cycles the same time ravnica does D:

  • Aetherspouts It is no doubt amazing once played but a bit hard to cast.. i'll see how my games go and also debate adding this

I'm a huge lover of Void Snare but you are correct in that instants are needed. Void Snare is the card ill be swapping the most while sideboarding, its good in pretty much every game but my sideboard could make better use of the slots depending on the deck im facing.

Really looking forward to the changes the new set will bring though, high possibility of changing to a three color once it hits. But for now Simic master race it is.

Again, thanks for the huge comment! I'll take a peek at your deck!

I'm sure its a mistake, but I'm looking at 5 skulkers In the deck...

I never thought i would say this but prognostic sphinx would actually be really good in the fact that he will allow you to set up all of your draws if he sticks and i imagine with tons of card draw, that won't be hard

ONtheLean says... #18

Think about running Rogue’s Gloves instead of Ordeal of Thassa , It's the same cost to play, gives you more card draw, is another artifact to have to put Ensoul Artifact on, and if you Life's Legacy the creature it's on, you can equip it to another creature and keep using it.But definitely a good build +1

August 3, 2014 7:27 p.m.

Mister_H says... #19

@mcskivvies

Prognostic Sphinx could really have a place in this deck. He fits in the curve nicely and works well with the theme. Ill definitely consider.

@ONtheLean

Rogue’s Gloves are mechanically better than Ordeal of Thassa but they cost 2 to equip and it only triggers on combat damage to a player. Tempo wise this won't really fit in the deck and it isn't as consistent where as ordeal happens once you attack with the creature and can tempo with my one drops if needed. I might try it out at sometime but that's how I'm looking at it as of now.

Thanks for the feedback both of you!

ONtheLean says... #20

Ya the equip cost is a bitch, but with the play set of Aqueous Form your running it may work out. But I see where your coming from

OrzhovWarrior says... #21

The deck handles really well, especially with Chasm Skulker but can't you just add +1/+1 counters to him through Titanic Growth instead of just drawing cards?

August 4, 2014 2:12 a.m.

SadoChad says... #22

Kruphix, God of Horizons for unlimited hand size and a big mana pool all the time? Anyways +1 because this is a lot similar to the deck I wanted to make using Chasm Skulker.

August 4, 2014 4:22 p.m.

littleadam11 says... #23

nice deck and a +1 from me :D, but have you thought of Prophet of Kruphix ? it is a 5 mana dude but insane with control and killing them quicker. also i was wondering if you could look at my deck squiddies :3 i was thinking of adding green but not too sure, maybe we could help each other out :D

August 4, 2014 5:26 p.m.

Mister_H says... #24

@ONtheLean

indeed it is, thanks for the suggestion though!

@OrzhovWarrior

Unfortunately cards like Titanic Growth don't add +1/+1 counters, it just increases the power and toughness. Otherwise that would have worked perfectly.

@SadoChad

Been debating it but i decided against, Ive never had a hand size problem thus far and the only mana synergy would be for Hero of Leina Tower

@littleadam11

I have, but when it comes down to it Prophet of Kruphix always seems to be a "win-more" card. Whereas Prognostic Sphinx could easily tip the scales by letting me draw into Void Snare to deal with something on the board. I do want to try a couple games with her but that's just my view point at the moment. Ill make sure to check your deck out! I love the squid archetype that this card is spawning.

@all

Thanks for all the feedback! Taking this thing to FNM next chance i get! (unfortunately I can't this week)

Ok, but if you had a white and blue deck, could you combo Phalanx Leader with Chasm Skulker or will that not work either?
