I always wanted a relatively cheap way to get into modern, this is my current answer. While not exactly budget, it could be if you really wanted it to be.
Main Board
Anafenza, Kin-tree Spirt I contemplated hard about Ana as she is a double white and while her effect has a nice consistency about it, I wanted card draw and I found a spirit that could do the job Dreamcatcher. The problem I had wasn't Dreamcatcher itself but the synergy that I lost for opting towards the card draw, card draw is great but with Ana my Mausoleum Wanderer Actually becomes potentially more useful mid game as to dropping spirits wastefully to buff it to be a powerful counter. In my opinion though she is the first card to move for the spirits in the side board, and being a legendary while not a huge problem does give it a downside.
Next up is the Cavern of Souls while its kinda duh in this deck I can see it as a big issue for players as it isn't easily accessible to most, so while extremely useful in the deck it is heavily dependent on your meta, as for mine control decks are almost non-existent but I put it here as to be more viable for competitive magic.
Door of Destinies I can see this card being the decks main Achilles heel while taking a position in the deck as I can not think of a single deck in modern that runs it (correct me if I am wrong please). But I couldn't help myself, I want this card do do amazing things but realistically it being a 4 drop could see it getting the axe, while there are a few 4 drops in modern, what this does is kinda late and by turn 4 you may have other plays that maybe more important. with that said I have a sliver of hope I can pull it off.
Drogskol Captain this guy is the corner stone of the deck he is essentially the lord of Atlantisof the spirits world...Well maybe not, but you get what I mean, with out the cap'm I don't think this would have what it takes to play competitively.
Geist of Saint Traft he's here to push through some heavy hits while working in tandem with doors to push through a win, really not much to add, he is your spirit with an angel beat stick for a side so yeah.
Gitaxian Probe CARD DRAW!!!! In all seriousness, this is to help you plan your strategy against your opponent and the CARD DRAW is just a sweet, sweet extra.
Mana Leak and Mana Tithe because counters. I put these here to help pace your games better, with this deck being something like 2.33 average mana cost I thought to slow down other players, while we do have other cards to help us do this, say no to having a counter in a control deck I dare you! (I am aware that somewhere in existence there are counter-less control decks, somewhere, but lets not talk about them...ever)
Mausoleum Wanderer This guy!!! he got me started on the spirit deck, thanks to the Prof. (Tolarian community college) for pointing it out in one of his videos. while nothing uber powerful, this creature/counter/synergy stick has potential when paired right.
This decks own personal Deathly Hallow Rattlechains(you see where I am going with this, right?) insta-hexproof for when the cap'm is out of rum or just to protect what you already have that isn't safe, and also Flash (for Harambe?)
what do you say when the GM calls Rocks fall, everyone dies? Sac a selfless spirit of course, our answer to our own board wipes and their's,Pretty niffty.
Spell Queller our perfect no to our opponent,Goyf No, later. rhino No, later. Why you could even do it to yourself, but I don't condone self abuse...and lastly
[Supreme Verdict] because Rocks fall, everyone dies Well, except us :) selfless spirit
I would like to thank [breadedenemies], for being my first up-vote and commenter on this deck, they gave me a few ideas and help me with some encouragement as I have never gone into this much detail in a deck before and they also added me to a folder which is pretty cool. Also if you feel there is any thing I missed or can add feel free to contribute as I am far from perfect and I want this deck to be that, or as close as I can get it. :)
