  • Play cards that excel in reduced board/hand states (stoneforge, arcanist, souls)
  • Souls works well with equipment
  • Between removal and hand attack, lots of targets for arcanist
  • Red provides pressure along with the disruption from hand attack, allowing you to attack decks like tron
  • Access to kolaghan's for fighting other stoneblade decks and recycling important creatures

Why fire and ice mainboard?

There's a lot of debate of which sword to maindeck. A common sentiment is that feast and famine is better in modern, while fire and ice is win more. I think it is very shell-dependent. A deck like UWx stoneblade can use feast and famine well by countering the opponent's ability to build up card advantage, and untaps lands to let you play out the many cards you have in hand. However, in a BWx shell focused heavily on stripping both players' resources, fire and ice will be much better by letting you pull ahead with card draw. Additionally, as a red deck, fire and ice can close games very quickly along other aggressive creatures and bolt effects.
