I recently got back into playing Magic and freaked out when I saw Phyrexian Obliterator . I tried him out in one of my black/green decks but just couldn't get him out, so I thought, that settles it; I'm gonna have to try mono black. Anyways, here's the end result.

• Hunted Horror + Torpor Orb gets you a 7/7 trampler on turn 3. Torpor Orb also helps foil some of your opponents' really big creature effects. Because screw your Gray Merchant of Asphodel.
• Phyrexian Obliterator is darned good all by itself. I usually keep one as a blocker, then attack with the rest. Be warned, though; it can make you a huge target in a multiplayer game.
• Sheoldred, Whispering One Let's you bring back all your broken black beauties. I like swinging with Typhoid Rats as much as possible, then bringing them back if my opponent is dumb enough to block 'em.
• I choose Staff of Nin over Phyrexian Arena just because I'm not a huge fan of the life loss and the extra 1 damage per turn comes in handy. Just personal preference.
• Vampire Nighthawk is a) flying protection nd b) a great way to get back some life (especially you do decide to use Phyrexian Arena.
• Whip of Erebos isn't essential, just a nice touch.

I might switch out something for a couple Phyrexian Arenas but I don't know what to get rid of. Any suggestions?
