There are three gimmicks on this deck:

Get Rafiq to 11 (22 with double strike) and unblockable.

Exalted Knights with double strike and other buffs from Knights (indestructible, +1/+1, etc).

Multicolor knights benefit from Steel of the Godhead, Shield of the Oversould, Favor of the Overbeing, and Knight of New Alera.

But on most multiplayer games Rafiq is not allowed out for very long, so I have tons of mana generation to pay for the ever increasing cost.
