Try to upgrade to Elspeth, Sun's Champion . If you're going tokens that version is much nicer, providing 3 vs. 1, unless you're using her for indestructibility.

Don't run Elspeth, Sun's Champion . It's WAAY to expensive for this deck.

Oh and Gustcloak Savior isn't modern legal or very good.

Should I run 2 or 3 Skyspear Cavalry ? I can just get them out with Preeminent Captain and it will be buffed by cards like Captain of the Watch and Honor of the Pure .

i say no to the skyspear for the simple reason that his cmc is too high and he is not all that great. If flight is what yo are trying to accomplish, then use something like nimbus wings for that.

How can I fit in 2 or 3 Aegis of the Gods ?

Take the 4 Cloudshift s out of your sideboard and put in 2 Aegis of the Gods and 2 more Rootborn Defenses because any kind of board wipe will wreck this deck.

Would Lagonna-Band Trailblazer work in here?

May 28, 2014 8:44 p.m.

Evehorizon says... #9

Not at all. I have next to no spells in here that target my own creatures and that is a scout. May I ask why you thought it would?

Good early game bocker? I'm a bit new at this.

Interesting choices. A little expensive mana wise. I cannot cheat them out with Preeminent Captain .

I want to put in Boros Elite . I am considering taking 1 Honor of the Pure and 1 Brave the Elements out so I can put 2 in, but I still feel like I could do better.

My group would punish me for playing Field Marshal by showing up the following week with soldier decks so I would just leave them out. Also, not to nit pick, but even though she makes soldiers, Hero of Bladehold is actually a knight if you are staying true to the whole tribal thing. I would replace those 6 with +2 Odric, Master Tactician and 4x Precinct Captain . Just friendly thoughts. +1.

Thank you for your input, but Field Marshal wins me games. Can't take him out. Same with Hero. I do appreciate you commenting though!

I'm a pretty big sucker for any deck that has a tribal theme to it.

Why not use Path to Exile instead of Silence ? I play modern quite a bit and I don't feel right about using a white deck that doesn't use this spell. It's easily one of Modern's best removal tools.

I would cut Odric, Master Tactician for 2 more AEther Vial s.

I have a soldier deck and I actually really like Porcelain Legionnaire in it, it doesn't look like much but 3 first strike power on turn 2 is something a lot of decks have trouble with. Aggro decks like zoo don't want to attack into it and other decks don't want to block it if they can help it, so he'll likely nail them for 3 each time he attacks. cool deck though!

I like that idea. What would you replace here?

May 27, 2015 5:46 p.m.

timebender says... #20

hm... I'm not sure, my gut instinct would be Field Marshal since most of your creatures already have first strike and he's not that great to cheat out with Preeminent Captain since he's just a 2/2 and will probably just get eaten by a blocker, but... he is also really strong with all your tokens. Maybe Raise the Alarm? It's good, but not that high impact unless you have an anthem effect, I'd say it's only better than the legionnaire with at least 2 anthems. Also replacing it will up your creature count so Preeminent Captain and AEther Vial don't become irrelevant. Still not sure, it probably depends on your meta.

actually, correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like a problem with this deck is that Preeminent Captain and AEther Vial can be turned off with the relatively small amount of creatures you run. I suppose once you swing with odric, it's game over anyway, but after playtesting a bit I often got hands with just one or two creatures and I couldn't really do anything for a few turns. Maybe just a hazard of playing it though. I don't want to change your deck too much, but maybe you could go for a more creature-based hate route, play some more 1 drops and main Thalia, Guardian of Thraben. It would streamline the deck and make it more consistent and aggressive, but it would be less reactive and possibly more easily shut down by hate. I'll put up my odric deck (it's legacy and a little bit more budget than this, but I've been playing it a long time and runs train pretty hard on my friends) so you can see what I mean. Not that mine's better or anything, just thought you could maybe get some ideas

Dude, thank you so much. I will definitely check your Odric deck out for ideas. You are absolutely right about Preeminent and Vial. I think I can get rid of Raise the Alarm.

One more question, should I take out the Precinct Captains for 2 Thalias'?

Here it is

Odric's Weenie

Hopefully it gives you some ideas, it's probably not super competitive, but it definitely can deal a whole lot of damage. Hope this helps!
