I see. Rattleclaw is my "blue mana" backup plan. I only need 1 blue usually. Morph for 3, flip for 2, and you have RGB. Dictate of Kruphix is a card I'd love to play because it makes the deck more consistent. Unfortunately it makes the opponent's deck more deadly too, especially if they are playing hard aggro or burn (Nylea's Disciple will help. Put it in the sideboard).

Also, certain cards are always your best cards and should be 4x everytime. For my deck, I would name Genesis Hydra, Eidolon of Blossoms and Karametra's Acolyte. For your version, devotion is lower (check green symbols to CMC ratio), and enchantment count is lower, so I'll leave it to you to figure which cards need more emphasis.

The bow: definitely it can be a useful card. It increases devotion, gains you life, is an enchantment, kills flyers, and makes some attacks deadly, but don't play it for when you have the combo. The combo wins the game if you have the right card with it, but bow doesn't kill the opponent. (Except: you can make a million counters and gain a million life if you have Bow and Kiora's Follower and Nykthos/Acolyte and 10 green devotion.)

I do see what you mean with having playsets of certain cards but I also had trouble trying to figure out what goes in and what goes out. I do think you should include the mindswipe to add both control and burn in one. As I was playtesting mine, as soon as I got the combo out I realized thst the mindswipe could be instant kill turn 5 at the earliest !

DrFuzzyGloves, more interesting ideas. As much as possible I want my answers to synergize with the deck. So Singing Bell Strike is an enchantment for Eidolon of Blossoms, a combo piece, searchable with Genesis Hydra, and taps down an enemy flyer. I side in Arbor Colossus as it can block flyers and kill them, and besides is a useful extra threat for control matchups. Nylea's Disciple is devotion and solves the burn problem.

Hall of Triumph is too narrow: It only saves Caryatid among my many little guys and only versus one spell. Defend the Hearth buy a turn but does nothing else. If someone is packing burn or overrunning me, I would much rather play Triton Tactics as an answer to both problems. Windstorm definitely seems worth considering.

In general, the deck is extremely synergistic. Siding in other cards tends to destroy the synergy. You don't want that, so for any one match, bring only a few cards in and hope they're the kind you can fetch. Circle of Flame comes to mind for mono-black or mono-red aggro.

I adjusted the deck to have more native power. Before I was too often not drawing the big threats. I was getting run over by aggro, and not running over control. So I added more Polukranos, Arbor Colossus, Savage Knuckleblade over Boon Satyr, Caryatid over Rattleclaw, and Crater's Claws. It seems to run much smoother now. It's less explosive but also more sturdy.

4 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx in a 3 color deck? I feel 1 would be kinda useless but 4?? Once your in 3 mana i feel like the point of it is kinda meh. I can see the deck is heavy on green but I feel like still not relevant.

December 15, 2014 3:18 p.m.

jubale says... #7

Useless? Not when it can 4 mana on turn 4 all by itself. The deck is all about abusing green devotion mana. I win if i get it and lose if i don't.

The only thing Nykthos cares about is how many green do I have. I have 33 green permanents, and many are double green. The only non-green are Singing Bell and Crater's Claws.

So the only question remaining is, can I do do blue and red. The answer is, usually.

There's a solid reason it isn't play'd when more then 1 or let alone 2 mana colors are used. But hey throw 4 in there and you might be the one to do it! lol

Okay look. I know this isn't a tier 1 deck. But the ENTIRE point of this list is huge mana off of Temur Ascendancy. That means 3 colors and Nykthos.

Most 3 color decks aren't focused on one main color, and Nykthos is useless because it might generate 1 extra mana. Here we are focused on green and Nykthos is generating tons of extra mana. There is a difficulty getting the blue and red at times, and probably I should cut Savage Knuckleblade so I can focus more on green, but please stop suggesting I drop the one key land.

I did drop 1 nykthos in mine. It was devastating to deck performance when I drew 2 at the start. I still get it every game, most of the time I get 2. It doesn't hurt to take 1 out and add 1 Temple of Epiphany. Give it a shot, especially if your running knuckleblade. If you can't play knuckle blade often then drop a few for boon satyr which procs both blossom and ascendancy for draw.

Thanks Benchpepper. Been working it for a while and really liking the way it's becoming. It goldfishes consistently, but now I need to consider defensive cards.

jubale the sabertooth seems so good. Do you think we will miss Kiora's Follower?

January 19, 2015 1:22 a.m.

jubale says... #18

Kiora's Follower is awkward with Sabertooth. Bounce and replay for 1UGG is an awkward cost to try to build around. In the end Voyaging Satyr does good enough and in the end I needed slots for card draw so I cut the Follower.

Okay, new sideboard plan in place, ready for competiton. One card I want to consider: Hornet Queen (or Hornet Nest). It isn't needed at all to win, but I wonder if it's needed to not lose against some matchup. Given a 7 turn goldfish, I think AEtherspouts would serve better to stop aggressive decks, so are there controllish decks that also field a lot of power and will be stymied by 5 deathtouchers? Perhaps I should play that over Crater's Claws (which exists to take out Walkers and nasty creatures?

jubale i am a little bummed to see Villainous Wealth get cut

I love this deck; it looks very fun to play!

I agree that you should put in some Savage Knuckleblades as a backup beater if you don't get the combo. Also, one mainboard copy of Crater's Claws could serve as an additional wincon with lots of mana.

Although it is very situational, Shaman of the Great Hunt could be used for infinite draw when combined with Karametra's Acolyte, Singing Bell Strike, and 7 devotion. However, this might be unnecessary, as you already have a lot of combo.

Definitely a +1 from me!

P.S. You might want to update the description; you no longer have Kiora's Follower in the deck.

jarhead_21 - this particular list never had Villainous Wealth. But I would consider it as a sideboard option in place of Crater's Claws. Main deck -4 UG lands, +4 BUG lands, -1 Voyaging Satyr +1 Sylvan Caryatid.

dragon_slayer - thank you very much! About your suggestions:Knuckles - It's a card I like and I tried it, but not for this deck. Only 1 devotion, awkward 3 color cost, and not nearly as broken as Polukranos with huge mana.
Crater's Claws - I definitely considered main deck , and I might still do that.
Shaman of the Great Hunt - If it was green I'd do it. Devotion is so important.
Kiora's Follower - It's not presently there, but it may come back.

Obviously i don't have any yet as release is Friday. But i will do then. I'm still debating to add answers to the main. Crater's Claws I think?

I Why do you have 2 basic mountains in the deck and only 1 forest? You definitely need green mana more than red mana in this deck, and you get plenty of red mana from your Sylvan Caryatids and other lands.

Using this reasoning you could also drop the Wooded Foothills for some more basic forests.
