this is a custom brew mono black infect list - less discard, more pumps.
one problem i noticed with a lot of mono black infect lists is that they run out of gas and hope to top deck something like an Inkmoth Nexus or skittles or whatever.
i cut Runechanter's Pike, Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon, Lashwrithe, and removal spells like Doom Blade etc.
with this list i want to be much more aggressive, so i've filled slots typically held by removal and artifacts/equipment, and sometimes more discard, and filled that with pumps: Virulent Swipe, Vampire's Bite, Boon of Erebos and the pseudo pump after death Undying Evil. the latter 2 cards also serve as counter removal, while the first of which providing deathtouch and rebound help get some early pressure going.
i'm only running a discard package of 9 cards in the main deck, with 7 of those being true discard only cards. Funeral Charm can do a variety of things so it's versatility gives it a spot in the deck over more Raven's Crimes. less discard frees up some space for the pumps.
sideboard options are plentiful. i tried to choose things that will provide a lot of options. Virulent Wound and Disfigure seem to work well together here if removal is more premium than hand destruction. i chose Aphotic Wisps to serve a similar function to Distortion Strike, though these might not be very good. i figure fear might be good, and it cantrips.
artifact and enchantment removal are serious issues that i need to address somehow, so this will remain a prototype until i do. other than splashing green, which i don't want to do, sideboard options would be things like Pithing Needle or Phyrexian Revoker i guess.
