Or, mill mill mill some more..
Basically, I had a blue-red burn deck for standard fo a couple of weeks, but I didnt enjoy it much. My local meta consists of an abnormal amount of black-green Seasons Past decks and control. I therefore decided to sideboard a mill-plan. That sideboard plan is now my main board.
The main plan is, of course, getting a Sphinx's Tutelage down. After that, everything in this deck will help you find or draw cards. Fevered Visions helps to draw cards, mill your opponent, and burn a bit as well. Especially control players will hate this enchantment, and quite often die from the damage alone.
Thing in the Ice
is just a blocker to help you survive, or kill off the opponent if you're in need of damage. Usually, it will get killed or otherwise removed quite early in the game. It therefore also serves as a spell-catcher for Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
. Jace helps you recast all your draw spells, but also finds you the cars you need for this deck to work. It's really easy to flip him in this deck.
Jori En, Ruin Diver draws cards. Goblin Dark-Dwellers recasts your draw spells.
Chandra, Flamecaller serves as a board wipe, but her 0-ability is what makes her really, really overpowered in this deck. Especially after drawing cards with Tormenting Voice and/or Magmatic Insight, duplicated with a Pyromancer's Goggles. Just as mean and unexpected is Forgotten Creation. Just throw away your hand twice each turn and draw a shitload of cards.
Negate helps defend against removal spells (Dromoka's Command or Ruinous Path) but dont forget you can counter your opponents Planeswalkers with it, too.
Your sideboard plan is quite easy. Throw away your mill cards in favor of burn, and burn your opponent hard. They'll never see it coming. Or, they will and wont be able to do anything about it. They will be stuck with dead enchantment removal cards, and probably will have sided out any creature removal (Hence Thopter Engineer and Pia and Kiran Nalaar, they deal a lot of damage).
