We've seen Esper knights, splashing blue for Teferi and Scarab god. We've seen Orzhov knights opt for a more concentrated. Now we have Abzan knights. There are a few things going on with this deck, essentially we have a mid range deck with knights and a lot of planes walkers. The reason this works is because the knights suite (knight of grace, knight of malice, history of Benalia) consists of some of the most cost efficient(2 and 3 mana), offensive and defensive(vigilance, first strike hexproof), creature suite in standard. So we're going to use it to protect our walkers. So while the knights take a back seat figuratively and let our planes walkers be our primary win con, they will be the literal front-line that carries us here, plus there's no reason we can't swing out with vigilance and still defend our walkers.
The Creatures are all mostly self explanatory our frontliners are Knight of Malice, History of Benalia and Knight of Grace are our cost efficient front liners that deter enemy attackers and can also go on the offense.
The mana base is a little tricky and our walkers are higher up on the curve so to help with that we have Servant of the Conduit, Jadelight Ranger, and Rishkar, Peema Renegade for overall mana fixing, ramping.
Shalai, Voice of Plenty,Skysovereign, Consul Flagship and Lyra Dawnbringer are our eyes in the sky serving to both Protect us from the skies and serve as a way to race decks that don't have many flyers. Shalai specifically among these 3 does the most for us, her effect ensures that our opponents have to go through her if they want to get to our walkers. While it is far and few between I'd regret it if I didn't at least point out her second abilities power to synergize with Walking Ballista and Rishkar, Peema Renegade.
Now that we're done identifying all the multiple uses for our meat shields let's see what they're actually going to be dying for. So first to the party is Vraska, Relic Seeker she is our average party goer she brings it all removal, more dudes, and an alternate wincon. Without her it isn't a real party. Next is Ajani Unyielding I say next but really he followed Vraska into the party he is the younger brother Vraska's mother said she had to bring otherwise she wouldn't let her use the car, and because we don't want 3 Vraska's we reluctantly let him in as a proxy of Vraska He has no win con, narrower removal(depending how you look at it) and a dig ability that is actually pretty disgusting in this deck but we won't let him know that. Coming in late as usual is Karn, Scion of Urza what can I say about this guy he brought Alchahol and girls we have to let him in, just your basic obligatory strong planeswalker.
Now I saved the best for last which is Nissa, Vital Force She is the host of the party and as such is running around making sure everything is coming together. With a plus ability that can either put our opponent on a 4 turn clock, or create a 5/5 to protect ourselves with she is already over achieving but that is just the surface if this card. Another reason she is the party host is because she is the main reason we are all here to begin with. Nissa's minus 3 ability allows her to return ANY permanent card from our graves to our hands, which if you haven't noticed is all of our deck, which means she can get back other walkers, creatures that died, cast outs that were destroyed, sky sovereign. The main interaction that we can have fun with is the one it has with the sagas that we run History of Benalia and The Eldest Reborn Playing history of benalia and Nissa on curve means that we get full value out of that saga just before Nissa comes down and puts it back in our hand. And eldest reborn is just an amazing saga to have in a planeswalker deck because Nissa can just keep recycling it for the ultimate form of attrition.
As far is improvements go I am still testing with this deck, as you can see I haven't made a sideboard for this deck yet because I like to get the mainboard down first before I like to do that. As of now pretty much all the cards in the mainboard are going to stay, I'm just trying to decide the mixture of cards like I know shalai is going to stay but I'm trying to up the number to 3 cause she almost immediately gets destroyed, or I might drop a card here add one there but for the most part the deck will stay looking like this.
