No it does fine. 24 lands plus 8 draw spells, and on top of that it's a slow deck. Works great

@Bano42 Sure Homunculus is good but what do you suggest I take out for him? I think Baral, Titi, and Torrential are all much better than he is. I have 15 counters which seems to just barely be enough, 8 bounce spells which I have to have or aggro decks are going to destroy me. Then my 8 draw spells which might not even be enough. I do have Homunculus so I might try him in place of baral or titi. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

You can maybe sideboard some of those bounce spells for him? Then put the bounce spells in against the aggro decks?

You can put them in the sideboard in place of Dynavolt Tower? To me, I'm not personally all that fond of the card with this deck. You're countering and bouncing everything away, I don't think it adds that much. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I already have Engulf the Shore sideboarded for aggro decks. Dynavolt Tower is sided for playing against control decks. I just remove my creatures and put in summonings and the tower. Then they have a bunch of dead removal in there hand and I can just shock them to death. I've found Dynavolt is an excellent card for any deck running heavy instants or sorceries. Like I said in my last comment though Homunculus is a fantastic card and I will try him place of baral or Thing. But I feel pretty solid on my instants though.

What do you think of Baral's Expertise? I know it has a high CMC, but it can be a bomb late and can cast Glimmer of Genius, Engulf the Shore, etc.

@Blume17 Baral's Expertise is an awesome card. The only reason I'm not running it is because it's a sorcery. The goal of control is to never tap out on your turn. Don't get me wrong it's an amazing card but I kinda got to go instants all the way.

@Smileycorp 23 Lands does really good most the time actually. But if I could find something to drop I wouldn't mind going to 24 maybe even 25 lands.

I have a deck very similar to this; bounce and counter. I run a play set of Thing in the Ice and Curious Homunculus as well as two Barals. My record with this deck is very shaky: 2-1 3-1 2-2 1-3. The times I lost where due to mana problems (I run from 20-22 lands since there is creature-provided mana ramp) and also faster decks such as G/W Humans. The problem with mono-U right now is that it is a bit slow compared to the current meta, giving it a hard time. The mana ramp in this deck helps to it speed up, however the summoning sickness of Homunculu's ability is more detrimental than you may think. Granted you have Baral, but you can only have one at a time. I love my deck, which is very similar to this one, but I think I have to retire it from standard for it cannot match the current speed of the meta.

@Stephen815 Yes I haven't been doing super well either. 2-2 and 2-1-1. I know I've got something here because it utterly destroys combo decks, and alot of midrangedecks as well. I just have to figure out how to handle control decks and aggro decks all in this same build. I have played Homunculus before and I'm aware that his summoning sickness is a bummer. I have a midrange/ish control deck and aggro deck, so I'll pit them together and find out exactly what this deck is lacking, and somehow build it into a competitive deck. Thank you very much for your comment. If I do well at FNM I'll keep you posted.

Just by looking at the list I can't really see it struggling against control or combo, but aggro will be a hell of a matchup if you can't start off quick with Thing in the Ice  Flip.

(This is probaly a dumb recommendation but) I'd swap out some of the counterspells for more bounce spells. Like maybe one more Engulf the Shore and maybe two Crush of Tentacles would make it a bit easier? I've built a deck similar to this and it seems to work better when there's less focus on Baral and more on just general Blue Bouncy Control.

Turn Aside is a very strong sideboard option if they run a lot of removal. 1 mana to save your Thing in the Ice  Flip or Torrential Gearhulk can be a massive tempo move.

Overall it's a pretty good list. I'm looking forward to seeing how it evolves with Amonkhet looming on the horizon :)

Thx for the suggestions SgtScrublord. I have considered dropping more counterspells in place for more bouncing but it doesn't seem to work very well. As for turn aside its a pretty good card but at my LGS only a couple people run heavy removal decks. The plan for playing against control/removal is to side in Dynavolt Tower, Metallurgic Summonings, and Sphinx of the Final Word. That way almost all of their removal is dead and they just can't do anything. I am super excited for Amonkhet though, and seeing what beautiful blue spells come along.

Comparative Analysis is pretty sweet. If you have baral out you can counter a spell then EOT pay 2 mana and draw 2 cards.

Aether Meltdown might be a good one against aggro

@SirShmoopy Comparative Analysis isnt bad. If I can find room for it I'd love to run it. I'm addicted to draw spells. ;) I'll take Aether Meltdown into consideration as well. Thx for comment and the upvote.

I put a Aether Theorist just so i can always expect my next draw but all in all seems to be a fine deck :)

Also maybe considering Summary Dismissal to the sideboard would be a good idea. Maybe an Aethertide Whale for energy
