If you haven't already guessed from the name, this is a mono blue aggro deck. Here are the card choices and my reasoning.
Creatures:
Ninja of the Deep Hours: This card is awesome! It's not only a draw spell, that deals damage as well, you can also use it to bounce a Snapcaster Mage, which is pretty much godlike value.
Delver of Secrets
: Delver is nuts. I'm running 24 cards that can flip it, so I'm just about guaranteed to turn it over by turn 2/3 if I play it turn 1.
Phantasmal Bear: Just a 1 mana 2/2. The downside is almost never relevant. I can even return it to my hand with Ninja of the Deep Hours, because ninjitsu doesn't target.
Snapcaster Mage: Value.
Instants:
Vapor Snag: This card is nuts. Taking out 5% of their starting life total, while being an awesome removal spell. And yes, it does pass the "does it kill Tarmogoyf, Siege Rhino, and Tasigur, the Golden Fang" test. It can even break up a Splinter Twin combo.
Remand/Mana Leak: These counterspells just keep me ahead in the tempo game, and they also pass the "does it kill Tarmogoyf, Siege Rhino, and Tasigur, the Golden Fang" test.
Cryptic Command: Value. I also dream of flashing this back with Snapcaster Mage. That's like value + value = SUPER VALUE!!
Sorceries:
Gitaxian Probe: 0 mana draw spell, and I get to see what my opponent might have? Yes please!
Serum Visions: 1 mana draw spell, plus set up my next two turns? Yes please!
Lands:
Mutavault: This card is so versatile. It's just beat, after beat, after beat. Yes, it's a bit vulnerable to removal, but it can win games by itself.
Island: Value. I dream of using these to cast Snapcaster Mage, targeting Cryptic Command, then using more of these to cast Cryptic Command again!
