This is a toolbox Mono-Black deck that looks to grind out games. It does, however, have the ability to win out of nowhere with Gray Merchant of Asphodel.

Hand Disruption: Thoughtseize, Inquisition of Kozilek, and Kitesail Freebooter

Removal: Fatal Push, Gatekeeper of Malakir, Dismember, and occasionally Liliana, the Last Hope

Graveyard Hate: Bojuka Bog, Tymaret, Chosen from Death, Ashiok, Dream Render, and Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet. Tymaret also makes a good blocker vs Uro as he regularly has 6+ toughness with Devotion; and Ashiok is also good for shutting down fetches, tutors, and Amulet Titan

Sustain: Gifted Aetherborn, Nighthawk Scavenger, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel

Direct Damage: Geralf's Messenger and Gray Merchant of Asphodel

Draw: Phyrexian Arena, Castle Locthwain, and Street Wraith

Biggest Threat: Phyrexian Obliterator is the most fun part of the deck... He forces your opponent to make some hard choices - if they aren't playing much removal then resolving one of these bad boys can win you the game by itself

Noteworthy Lands: Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is only a 2-of because any more than that and I risk drawing too many of them too early in the game - I'm usually not laying one down until T4 unless I'm starved for land; Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth allows me to tap Fetches for mana against Taxes and gives me the option to trigger Revolt at will; Cavern of Souls to improve game 1's against Control

Actively Testing

1. Testing Street Wraith as a 2-of instead of mainboard Nihil Spellbomb - cheaper to cast (for draw effect), contributes to Devotion in the late game if I don't need to draw cards, and has Swampwalk which is relevant for playing Jund, Death's Shadow, RB Aggro, Elementals, and Dredge

2. Also testing 1 copy of Ashiok, Dream Render in LotV's spot as she often feels underwhelming or win-more

3. Running Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet in place of 1 copy of Gray Merchant of Asphodel

Future Considerations:

1. I'm thinking about adding a copy of Consume Spirit - gets better as the game goes on and synergizes well with Nykthos

2. Collective Brutality and Bloodghast might be solid cards to integrate into the Mainboard together, not sure yet - Bloodghast could also be a solid card to come out of the sideboard for Control matchups

3. Once I can afford to buy Blast Zone and Mishra's Bauble I will likely replace Rachet Bomb and Street Wraith. Blast Zone is a better Rachet Bomb and syncs well with Nykthos; Mishra's Bauble syncs well with Thoughtseize, IoK, and Kitesail Freebooter (and is less painful at the expense of being a bot slower)
