kittycatsupremeoverlord, Day's Undoing gets rid of all abilities and spells on the stack, so the Sphinx's Tutelage triggers get countered.

In addition, the grave's would be reset, so... yeah...

I don't see Day's Undoing being good for a mill deck unless you cast Tormod's Crypt beforehand. Yes, seven cards triggering on one Tutelage mills a minimum of 14 cards. Just hope that a few don't hit lands to get a few more cards milled.

wallywonks, as I stated before, Day's Undoing exiles all spells and abilities on the stack, so the Sphinx's Tutelage triggers wouldn't resolve.

Very nice to see someone else going in for Sphinx's Tutelage, I actually have gone Green with it using Eidolon of Blossoms as one of the draw engines.
However looking through the decklist here I can't believe I missed the synergy with Monastery Siege, makes me think that even Dictate of Kruphix works too, I see also you said that the Archive isn't working out for you I wasn't 100% on that one either guess I might drop it too.
One suggestion though is Fascination, if you have 2/3 Tutelage's down and hit Fascination for lets say 8 (late game) it'll get through at least 24+ which'll pretty much be game.

Infinite Obliteration + Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver is a real non-bo... just fyi.
And you should really be running Dark Deal. Since yours in a control heavy build, you should have plenty of cards in hand for a big payoff.
I also think you'll find Liliana Vess and Mindscour Dragon will be too slow in a deck like this.

@WoollyMammoth As always, thanks for the input! I wasn't able to really test the latest updates this weekend, but I'm hoping to this week. A lot of what you touched on has been very close to what I've been thinking with regard to the sideboard. It's going to be a really tight fit to get everything in though, and It's going to take some playing around to get it right. Your first post is absolutely on point with the fact that this is basically U/B Dragons with the dragons subbed out for mill. That's basically how I've been trying to treat it all along.
As far as adding green, I've also thought about that. Specifically for Sultai Charm, but I was also giving a bit of thought to Kiora, the Crashing Wave. The versatility of the Charm would be a huge asset, and I'm really tempted to go ahead and try the splash even before I seriously test the deck in its current configuration. I'm not too sure about Kiora. I think she could be useful, but I'm not sure if she's useful enough to warrant pushing something else out. I also like the idea of the Herald of the Pantheon, but I'm not sure if I want to splash green hard enough to be able to reliably count on a green 2-drop. It's a consideration, but I don't think that it gives us that much, especially if we're considering cutting down/out the Monastery Siege.
@TheFoilAjani I've looked into running Dark Deal too, and I do like the idea, I just havent figured out where/how to slot it in. I do think I'm going to try to fit Alhammarret's Archive back in here though. In the games that I got it out before I cut it, it was fairly strong.
Thank you to everyone that's been posting and brewing on this deck!! It's been a HUGE help to me, and I'm sure to others with similar ideas! Please keep the comments coming!
July 27, 2015 9:14 a.m. Edited.
@bellz76 I'm not sure what you mean about Infinite Obliteration + Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver. Could you elaborate a bit? Thanks!
July 27, 2015 9:19 a.m.
Sure thing! Ashiok exiles cards from your opponent's deck and then let's you put those creatures into play. The Obliteration takes creatures out of their deck- making it harder for Ashiok to hit a creature for you to use. Granted, if you're using Ashiok solely as a mill engine, it's no big deal, but I think that you'd be better served trying to use all of the planeswalker's ability.
July 27, 2015 9:57 a.m.
Ahh ok that makes sense, thanks!
I do primarily use Ashiok for mill, but I do regularly use her to gain board presence as well. I've been thinking about pulling Infinite Obliteration into the sideboard anyhow, just because its a more situational card.
Thanks for the input!
Also, regarding your earlier comment, I tend to agree that Liliana Vess and Mindscour Dragon are too slow for this deck, and I'm probably going to take them out (especially the dragons). I'll probably leave 1 Liliana in though, just because having a pseudo-Dark Petition that takes heat off of me for a few turns is great, not to mention her +1 is strong too.

I would highly recommend running Silumgar, the Drifting Death as it will survive both your sweepers and with Languish you can attack after you cast it to wipe any 5 toughness (Siege Rhino) creatures that survived (you wouldn't deal any damage but the trigger will still happen)
July 27, 2015 12:24 p.m.
@trixster87 Thanks! That's precisely why I've got him in the Maybeboard :) I'm just trying to figure out how to fit him in.

I'd drop the 2 Mindscour Dragon for him. I'd also suggest bringing in at least a copy of Haven of the Spirit Dragon that way if you lose either of the silumgars you can bring him back.
July 27, 2015 1:38 p.m.
The Mindscour Dragons are definitely out, but I have many other things that I want to bring in as well, so it's going to be a delicate balancing act. I'm probably going to try to do all of the swapping around tonight, and if I hit on anything good, I'll make sure to reflect it here.
And the Haven of the Spirit Dragon would come along absolutely.

Interesting to see a competitive approach to mill in Standard. +1 for thinking outside the box!
Do you have any FNM play with this list yet? If so, how did it do? What are its matchups like?
July 27, 2015 2:15 p.m.
I thought about that, especially instead of Mindscour Dragon, and I may still try it out, but I think that even as a 5-drop it would be a bit slower than this deck needs to play to really be competitive. I think I'm moving toward having the few creatures that are here be more standalone threats and not further mill engines. Also, the Necromaster Dragon has the same weakness as the Mindscour in that it gets hit by Languish :\
July 27, 2015 4:45 p.m.
Also JakeHarlow, first off: thanks!! Secondly, I've not had a chance to get it to an FNM yet unfortunately, and I don't think I'm going to be able to this week either (fingers crossed, hope I do). As soon as I do, I'll be posting an update for sure.
Also, this deck is actually for my wife, so she's going to be the one piloting it at FNM most likely, but I'll be sure to have her take good notes on the matches so I can give you guys as much info as possible!
This deck will absolutely be played for the Origins Game Day on August 8, and I'll be sure to post up the results from that as well.

I went green too. Sultai Control is amazing. Sultai Charm fixes so many problems. I fell in love with Profane Memento ... so good for control. I'd go 4 opulent palace to be safe. I'm also really into Infinite Obliteration; you can look through your opponents hand and library (don't let them do it for you) - This is most of the value of the card. Then, you can use Jace to re-cast it to remove whatever super nasty thing you saw the first time. Removing Den Protectors will save you a lot of headache. The trick is to be patient - dont throw it out turn 3 to put you behind. Wait until your control is developed and then use it to remove any unwanted surprises.
Dark Deal always seems to be in my hand when its one of two cards, I'd throw in a couple dig through time, its just too good. I regretfully cut all Alhammarret's Archive because the fact is that this deck is just not built for it, its just pushing too far. Kiora, the Crashing Wave is amazing for control, you basically negate a creature every turn until you ult her for a free 9/9 every turn no matter what...That's 4 mana well spent.

I'm shocked that you aren't running any Day's Undoing's! Day's Undoing + Sphinx's Tutelage is a great combo. Nice deck +1!
